We are looking into the Pirate adventure at GF for our son that will be lmost 9 years old. Is this good for that age or more geared for little ones??? I have read 2 different age groups for it, one said 4~10 and the other said 4~12. He is in both the age groups, but want to make sure it is not geared for just little boys?
Thanks in advance :goodvibes

It's 4-12. And good luck getting a ressie for it on a Sat. I've been calling everyday hoping for a cancelation.

Our then 6-1/2 year old granddaughter went on it a year and a half ago and absolutely LOVED it. I highly recommend it, if you can get a reservation. It's so well organized. Each child is paired up with another one about the same age or with a sibling. It's definitely on the buddy system. You can see the boarding and deboarding of the ship (a pontoon boat with a Jolly Roger flag). At the end of the cruise, all 24 kids were wearing huge smiles. The kids will get a bandanna type hat (complete with Mickey ears) with their names on it. They also will have to wear a life jacket. You help them pick it out but every child will be checked by a Cast Member to ensure a good fit. When you check the child in, you will be given a pager and a receipt. You have to have both before your child is asked to come off the ship. My daughter-in-law was so nervous letting her only child go off for two hours but once she saw the Disney way, she visably relaxed.

Make sure you are there at least by 9:15. The kids are gathered up at 9:25 and the ship will leave exactly at 9:30. It'll be back exactly at 11:30.

It's not geared just for little kids. My granddaughter said she worked hard to get her pirate treasure.

My daughters 4 1/2 and 6 went on the pirate cruise in May. Their cruise was on a Monday. They absolutely loved it. There were 12 children of various ages and i would say that there was the same amount of boys as there were girls. There were three adults leading the cruise. Each child had a partner and they sat together on the boat. They made 3 stops (according to my daughters). They all wore life vests. Parents were all given a pager in case they were needed. They also had lunch that consisted of an uncrustable, fruit snack and a drink. Might have been something else but i cannot remember. When they departed the boat, they were each given a bag that had treasures so all the kids had equal. We were told to be there at 9:15 and it left promptly at 9:30 and came back at exactly 11:30. It was well worth the money as the girls had a great time. OH and don't lose the receipt because you need both the reciept and the pager in order to get your little pirate back.

This event is our one event that is really better for older kids. There is allot of walking involved and problem solving. And they get the chance to be really noisy for two full hours!!! Sometimes the best part of it for them.
The younger children just follow along, as happy as can be, but usually clueless. All the waking with the heat and humidty we have in FL, really tries out the younger children. Keep in mind that they are wearing life jackets as well, making it hotter.
We do not supply water, there is a water fountain at one stop and a juice box with lunch at the end. Please send water along, if you think your child will need it. Again, most of the younger ones need it.
This event really geared with the older child in mind.
