Disney Pirate Adventure at the Grand Floridian...is it fun, worth it for a 5 and 7 year old...both boys? Please tell me your experiences! Also is the lunch always PB&J or can you request something different? Thanks!

My 3 boys did this last week. they are 7, 10 and 12.....the 7 year old loved it....but the older boys hated it......they said it was very babyish and boring. They all hated the food......it was PB&J, goldfish, juice box and I think a rice krispie treat......I'm sorry that I wasted $95 on this.

your kids will probably like it since they are younger.

My DN9 and DD8 did this last year and they really liked it! Lunch consisted of PB&J, a juice box, rice Krispy treats and something else I can't rember. It was mainly a 'snack' to hold them over until our 2pm ADR at Les Chefs de France. I've never asked about substitutions but you can contact Disney and find out.

The kids also get a cool little loot bag with all sorts of goodies. The coolest thing though was the pirate bandana with Mickey ears on it. And of course they got to say "Arrgggh" at pretty much every opportunity. :lmao: My DN and DD made quite a few 'pirate friends' on this excursion as well. It was money well-spent IMO, especially since I got 2 hours of peace to myself.

And if the weather is bad, they just hold a scavenger hunt in the GF.

Hope that helps!

My then seven year old granddaughter loved it. The lunches are pre made but I'm sure you can request something else when you book the cruise. It's just a Lunchable and there are lots of kids who have peanut allergies so they can't eat things like that.

I think your boys will enjoy it but the only way to find out is for them to go on it!

DD 5 did it... the food was PBJ and goldfish... She liked it and wanted to do it again... has also done the one at CBR... it is apparently the same.... I don't know when you are planning on going... but if you go closer to Halloween they have a pirate cruise thing for kids at night that is probably the best one. Includes a halloween/pirate picture.

We've done this twice - once at the GF and once from POR.
They loved it both times - but they are both obsessed with pirates.
It is a nice 2 hours for the parents, too.
We did it 2 years in a row, so that says something about how much they enjoyed it. It was the ONLY thing they requested for our most recent stay. (Until they found out about Jedi training, but that's a different story!)

Did this 3 years ago and DS (6) and DD (4) LOVED it! DS didn't eat hardly a bite of his lunch but we just fed him a heavy snack afterwards. DH and I got to enjoy a nice breakfast at the GF before we started our wild and crazy day at MK. My kids liked it so much, they wanted to do it again 2 years later but we just couldn't schedule it in our plans.

Thanks for all the replies. I can't get in at GF and was planning breakfast there with DH. They do have room at the yacht club - any suggestions for breakfast around there and is it the same pirate stuff?

My DS(8) & DD(4) did the Pirate Adventure Cruise from GF when we went down for Marathon Weekend earlier this year. They both had a really good time while my wife and I enjoyed a quiet breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe and a stroll around the grounds. Kona at the Poly in within walking distance too and has a great breakfast.

On separate trips over the past two years, my son has done the Albatross Cruise that leaves from the Yacht Club marina and the Jester / Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise that starts at POR. DD was too young to do the cruises on those trips. Of the three, DS rates the Albatross Cruise the highest. The pontoon boat takes them from YC into the World Showcase section of Epcot. If I got the story straight from him, they made stops in China, Mexico, and at the totem poles in Canada searching for clues or pieces of the map. This is before WS is open to the public so there was no risk of them loosing the kids. DS thought it was cool to be in there before everyone else. They ended up eating their lunches on the beach by the Albatross - (In case you didn't know: The Albatross in the name of the ship that crashed on the beach at the YC/BC and was turned into a kiddie pool / crows nest slide - this tour tells the kids the "story" of that ship). We enjoyed a character meal with DD at Cape May while DS (who doesn't like close interaction with characters anyway) was on the cruise. There are many other breakfast options nearby.

In our experience, the cruise from the GF was the toughest reservation to get - tried on several trips unsuccessfully, and ended up having to plan it out to call six-month out from our last trip. If you don't get the GF cruise, don't be let down, a well traveled little boy I know preferred the YC cruise anyway. I don't think you can go wrong either way, it was money well spent. BTW: we've always scheduled this on arrival or non-park days. It is the perfect activity for a rest and relaxation day.

Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club or Spoodles at the Boardwalk. Also, Fresh at the Dolphin.

I believe the cruise is changed a bit because of the locale but the premise is the same.

We love CG...Very relaxing, good service, nice atmosphere and the food is good...

We did not have a good experience at Spoodles...It could have been and likely was just an off day but our server was very slow and the food was almost cold when we got it...

I know you will be without the kids but DH and I really love the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club...The buffet selection is really big, the atmosphere is very relaxing and nice, the characters are very cute in their beach clothing....This is one character meal I feel that is fine for adults to go without children and will really enjoy it...

We have not dined at the Dolphin or Swan...

There is also the option of grabbing something from the Boardwalk Bakery and eating outside on the Boardwalk...They have great quick choices and the food that comes out of there is fresh and yummy...You can get bagels and other traditional breakfast items that you would find in a bakery...DH and I loved getting food from there and sitting outside in the morning...Very relaxing and CHEAP! You can use the dining plan but paying OOP is fine considering the foof there is so inexpensive...This may be the way to go depending on what you want.
