Piper's Practically Perfect PTR..Wish Trip! 3/2-8...Upd Pg 126- TR Link!! Hooray!

Thank you! Right now I'm thinking we'd hit IOA first since that's where the Suess stuff is, and even if Harry Potter hasn't soft opened, I think she would enjoy looking at the scenery. On the other hand, the Nick characters and Scooby, the Flintstones, are all at US! LOL..decisions, decisions. I actually have the first couple seasons of the Flintstones on DVD, and Piper loves them as much as I do!

I think we will try to hit FotLK, as several people now have mentioned how great it is! We've also found a volunteer opportunity in our area for Give A Day, Get a Day, making blankets for Project Linus (thanks, Crystal..Alternate Ego)..we're waiting to hear back from the coordinator, but that may give us the option to either be able to see Fantasmic at a different time/day, or swing back to one of the parks Mon for a half day before we leave. We'll wait and see what happens.

The give a day is wonderful! We just signed up yesterday for a local project with all 4 of us. Gosh it seems to me there were some Nick characters at IOA, I but it was so long ago...I don't recall. I love the Flinstones!

I am so sorry to hear about her stats :grouphug:

eande's mom.. Thank you.. After seeing everything about the two parks, I don't think we're going to focus on one, we'll go back to doing a split day and hitting the highlights of each. I also just found out Mardi Gras will be going on while we're there, but I need to get more info on it as far as when the parades are, etc.

More good news!! I got a wild hair today and decided to try emailing SeaWorld and asking about getting Piper some one-on-one time with a penguin. So I emailed them explaining the situation and Piper's love of penguins, and got an email back within an hour saying they'd be thrilled to do that for her!!! I am so excited for her! I'm not going to tell her about it at all and just let it be a total surprise. She's asked me about doing that a couple times, and I always told her I didn't think it would be possible, but there were plenty of other wonderful things to do at SeaWorld like feeding the dolphins and rays. I cannot believe how quickly they responded, and how happy they were to do this for her!

That's great news! How awesome of Sea World to agree and especially so quickly! Penguins are Caitlin's favorite and I know she'll be really excited for Piper! Plan on taking lots of pics!

Oohhhhh hope Piper is feeling better today...hugs and prayers for you both
I have heard of Moxie but have never had it....sounds like something I would like though...love Dr. Pepper :cool1: I have a friend in Connecticut that I usually see in the summer....I should hit her up for some :drinking1 I remember seeing it either on the Food Network or Travel Channel.
That is so awesome about the penguins! :woohoo: She will love that!

Hope she is feeling better today. :goodvibes

I will take a ton of pics, believe me! I'm still in shock that they replied so quickly, and so positively!

I looove it! I hate having to conserve it though.. :lmao: I am so completely excited for her to have that penguin time!

OH WOW!!!!!! That is so cool! She is going to be so excited when she finds out.

Hope she is feeling better today. :goodvibes

Surprisingly enough, even when Piper is very sick, she remains very upbeat, positive, etc. The only visible evidence is her breathlessness. It will usually take about a week for the IVs to really kick in, so we'll see.

My original plan was to ask the day we went to SeaWorld, but I don't like putting things off like that, hence the email. I'm soooo glad I did now! :goodvibes

That is so amazing! Did they tell you what their going to set up? She is going to love it whatever it is! :thumbsup2

She hasn't told me yet, but I hadn't given her a date, just the range of when we were going to be there. So I emailed her back with our SeaWorld day date, and very effusive thank yous.

That is great news!!!!!!!!!

I know, I am sooooo excited!!!

Amanda...great PTR! I've enjoyed "meeting" you and Piper, and I'm getting so excited for your trip! I'm originally from New England, MA first then Maine, just outside of Bangor. I now live in the Daytona Beach area...we've been very chilly all week, and my dad called to gloat that Bangor was actually warmer one morning than I was!!! So much for sunny FL right now. :)

I hope everything gets better for Piper ASAP!

And as for moving to Austin...sounds good to me! I do work for the state after all!

Just to contribute to the hijacking here - DH and I grew up in CA and moved to TX around age 30. We both fell in love. We actually moved there by choice and were so happy we did. We lived in FW and DH worked in Dallas (Sheriffs Dept). I did volunteer work in Lewisville and Carrollton. I would willing to move back at any moment. We would laugh at all the "Native Texan" bumper stickers and then we saw the perfect one for us - "I'm not from Texas but I got her as fast as I could."! And to my shock and horror, the bugs weren't bad in FW, but they are HORRIBLE here in AZ!!!!!

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled program....

That is SO COOL! I promise to wait until after you go, so I don't jinx anything, but I just might have to try the same thing. I love the idea of the dolphins and rays but I am having trouble picturing how we will position Phoebe comfortably to lean over and do that. She might be really resistant to that position since she won't understand why we're doing it. Also, with her vision, she may not even see what is swimming by if they don't go really slow. You'll have to share lots of details about that experience!!! I guess you are doing a good job of following Pamela's advice to be creative and think outside the box for the WISH trip. I never even thought about that as an option. Great job!!!

Bummer about the lung function test. Hope you avoid Club Med. Great news about Sea World!!

That's great that Piper will get to see some penguins up close.

Thanks, Jordan :)

Thank you, Nanci, and :welcome: I know..the weather down your way has just been crazy! Our entire extended fam is from the Moosehead Lake area, my aunt transplanted to Hermon when she met my Uncle! It's funny though, the first yr they went, they only went for about 6 weeks...last year it moved up to 8..now it's up to 12!! Can't blame them for wanting to get out of the snow though! Also thank you for joining our Give..I had meant to put that in the message, but you had me trying to guess too much!

Melissa..I seriously about fell out of my chair when I got the return email! Of course then the tears started..again..LOL. But today they were happy tears, so that's a good thing. :goodvibes You should definitely contact them and explain Phoebe's situation, and see what they can work out. I will take tons of pics, and am already planning on writing my TR as we go (at least a good outline of each day) to help make it easier to remember details, etc. I'm just not a last minute person, and was really afraid asking about something like that the day we went would not work out well. Now to get her a ride with the Genie..or Aladdin.. and I truly can't think of anything else that would make the trip more perfect for Piper!

Bummer about the lung function test. Hope you avoid Club Med. Great news about Sea World!!

Thank you, Mary! I'm really hoping we can avoid it as well, the only reason they didn't admit her yesterday was that she has done so much better recovering from bugs at home where she isn't confined to a hospital room and can be active. I am so psyched about SeaWorld!

Yeaaaaaaaa for Piper!! She will be so excited!!! I'm not going to be the one to blow the surprise, so I won't say why I'm excited.

LOL Camille, thank you! I'm at the point now that I don't let her look at the PTR unless there's something I think she'd really get a kick out of! I am thinking I might need to get her on here to do a "guest spot" update though! All of this is just coming together so well..we're definitely blessed! I really needed the boost today, it truly lifted me right out of the hospital/CF/sickness blues!

! I am thinking I might need to get her on here to do a "guest spot" update though!

I LOVE that idea!!! Do it! Do it!

It would be fun on the WISH trip thread or one of the main ones, to come up with some interview questions for the kids, to get their story.

:goodvibes I'm so glad it helped your day be better. I would loooove to hear from Piper! She's such a sweetie, and with her sense of humor, who know's what would come out of her on here!
By the way, you said you got some pretty neat things for Christmas, did I hear that you got a new camera?? I can't remember all the wonderful things you and Piper received this far out from the holiday, I think I haven't made it all the way to holiday amnesia (you know...to be ready for it next year :)), I guess I have it part way because all I remember for sure was a Wii and the fit plus thing you wanted.

The guests are finally gone and I have my time and computer back. So, hopefully I am back to being a regular heckler here. :lmao:

I love that Piper gets to get tete-a-tete with the penguins. That's very cool! Kids come up with the craziest fixations sometimes.

I will def let Piper in on the fun, probably this coming week. I've been feeling guilty for updating so often! I didn't get a new camera, but mine seems to be working better than it was, and Piper got a kid's video camera, which is what I used to tape her on Christmas morning. I did get some clothes for the trip though, and a leather knapsack also for the trip. We're going to be so kitted out that I won't know what to do with myself! LOL.

I'm so glad you're back, Liesa! It is very cool that SeaWorld is willing to do that for her..she's going to be so excited! Might even become a highlight of the trip for her!
