I am sure that has been asked (probably a hundred times over...) - but I can't seem to find it right now... Can I take my pins on the plane with me or do I need to pack them in the checked baggage? Crazy thing is, we were pin traders in December when we went last, but I can't seem to remember if we took them on the plane with us or if we packed them away...

Thanks in advance - Jen - leaving in 6 days!!!!!!!!

I only have a couple dozen pins that travel with me. They are all on a lanyard on the way down and go in my carry on. Any pins that I purchase while I'm there come home in my carry on as well. Never had an issue at any of the airports I fly out of, at least regarding pins.

It's been discussed many times. Do not check your pins, they may be stolen. You can take them as carry on luggage but you will probably have to be searched and you'll need to let them know what you have and where you are going. :)

Ditto!

No problems with pins in carry-on luggage -- even if you have several heavy pin-laden pin bags crammed into your bag. :rotfl: And jumbo pins in boxes too. ;) Sometimes they search every bag, sometimes they just ask what is in the bags and pass us through.

Definitely do not put pins in your checked luggage. Sadly, there are more and more stories of pins stolen from checked luggage....possibly, since all checked bags are x-rayed, it is easier for dishonest people to see which bags might have interesting contents. :sad2:

Whenever I have flown to Orlando I never had any trouble having my pin bags and pin lanyard being packed in my carryon bag. Sometimes when going through security they would get looked at and sometimes they were not, so it's a 50/50 chance of that happening.

Thank you everyone! I thought we brought it on as carryon last year, but wasn't sure! T-Minus 4 days!!!!!!!:cool1::scared1:

New pin traders traveling to The World this January. Do you do anything special with your pins/lanyards when in the carry-on ? I was thinking about putting ours in a quart or gallon zip lock. Easy to pull out and inspect ? What's the best practice ?

Thanks !

I've got ours in a quart size ziplock in one of the exterior pouches of my backpack.

I keep my pins in my Disney World pin bags and pack them in my carryon along with my lanyard.

Have never had my carry on opened to see what they were. I'm sure a) people at TSA AT MCO are so used to them, they dont even blink anymore. And b) airports that have service TO MCO have probably seen them enough times also they hardly take a 2nd look.

As the future ex wife of a TSO in MCO, I can say it all depends on how things are placed in your bag. Not to mention the mood or temperament of the person examining your bag. Just because they are used to seeing it, does not mean they might not enjoy having some fun tormenting you. Of course my future ex husband is one of those bad guys. Hence he is my future ex husband.

Pin Bags?!?!? What are those?
Here is a picture of what one of them looks like.
