pins on Christmas trees?

Has anyone ever decorated their tree all with pins? I realy want to do this, but there is no way I have enough. Between my DDs and myself we have MAYBE 150 pins, and I'm guessing that I would need at least twice that.

I figured I'd hang them from pretty loops of ribbon, with maybe a few small scattered ball ornaments. Oh well, maybe next year. I've got a lot of pins to buy in the meantime!
