Pins - how do you know what's good?

I have a couple of lanyards with pins and I have no idea if any of the pins are keepers or great to sell to a collector.

How do you know what's desirable?

Go to PIN PICS and they have most We collect what we like DD Tink and me PotC and NBC .

They will have LE .... as a number on the back if limited editions and how many were released.

If you are asking this question because you think they will be valuable down the road be careful.

The pin re-sale market has it's ups and downs. What have a high value one day, may not the next. What sells well one day goes for pennies the next.

tmt martins gives good advice. Collect what you like, what characters or pins have meaning for you. Check out Pin Pics to see what pins are hot at the moment. You can tell that by comparing the ratio of how many traders want a pin and how many are trading.

It's a fun hobby, hope you have fun with it.

This is how DD keep her keepers .Her traders are in her Tink pin Bag we picked up in DL it's easier to carry and you don't have to worry about pins falling off or getting knocked around

It's more a matter of wanting to de-clutter. I'm not a collector of anything. Most of them were given to me on travel agent education programs. Was thinking about selling them on eBay and keeping just a few so when DS is old enough to trade, he has some. I just don't want to ask too much (or too little) for them. Some of the pins I have, I couldn't find on pinpics.

I don't want to trade because I don't want more. LOL

The ones I couldn't find on pinpics are the dangle ones from Disneyland (resort and hotels) near the top of the lanyard

They are some very nice but big pins .

You may just want to pin them to a shirt or old blankie for DS and display them in his room .Give him something to look forward to.

Also maybe a CORKBOARD in a baseball or so soccerball shape many people use them as well.

Yes they would sell on E-bay start the listing with a regular pin price or at $8 and let it go from there .They will go higher from what I have been looking at on E-bay.Just put as much info as possible in the heading so it can get hits from Key word serches

A couple of the dangles are cast member pins.

Pin 12977 Grand Californian Dangle

Pin 10664: Disneyland Cast Member Dangle (est. 1955)

Pin 18275: Paradise Pier Hotel - Established 2001 (Dangle)

It's difficult to see what is written on the bottom of the Paradise Pier dangle so this could also could be
Pin 23101: Paradise Pier Security 2001 (Dangle)


Pin 12975: Disneyland Hotel Dangler (Est.1955)

Any others you need to find....just tell us which ones. Someone here will be able to find them on Pin Pics.

Again good advise to research past ebay auctions to see if anything similar sold and what they went for. A good rule of thumb is to start them for the minimum price you would want to get for them and let the auction go from there. Most pins sold at the parks today range from $8.50 up.

Somehow those little metal pieces tend to multiply. Must be part rabbitt.

You have got some great advice. If you want to part with the DCL Inagural Sailings pin I'd be interested since I am a CM there and have started a small DCL pin collection.
