Not sure what we've just done.
We went to DW for our 1st time last summer and had a great time pin trading
DD is really into Stich and we have been able to add to her collection with the help of a "friend" who introduced us to pins.
He "gave", sold to us, after we came back, several pins to trade. We went nuts doing the trading thing after we met the CM a AKL. The CM at AKL who took our DD's in under their wings explained how it works and how to do it. We had a fantastic time with it.

Well now to the point. We just boutght 13 pins from DisneyAuctions.com
(all part of 250 to 1000 limited edition pins) and we are wondering if they are really the true disney pins, like what we got at the World. Did we go overboard? Why are they so much bigger than the others that we traded? Can we trade these at DW? Why are these so different than the others? I think they are collectables and that is what she wants but are they truly the same kind of pins that we collected at Disney World? Do they belong in the same kind of collection? Should we keep them?

Please help out a novice collector who wants to ehldp his DD with a special collection.
Thanks, YO

Help me please.

Yes, they are the same type of pins that you would get at DW, made by Disney, just for the auctions. They are just BIGGER. They can be traded, but I wouldn't trade them for something off a CM's lanyard. They are sometimes more valuble than what a CM would have. You might want to check out this site: www.pinpics.com it will have pics and discriptions of the nearly all the Disney pins ever made (you can also set up internet pin trading). Plus they will give you an idea of how wanted your pin is by other people. Then you can check out www.dizpins.com they have a message board with some hard core pin traders when they might be able to help you with some really hard questions.

As for the pins...I would hang on to them, enjoy them, that is what its all about. Frame then up, and and hang them on the wall for all to see. Disney Auction pins are made in a lower amount than some of the pins made for the parks. SO depending on what you picked up, you could have some thing really valuble on your hands in the future.

Rack pins at WDW cost $8.95 (minimum).
DisneyAuction pins generally cost $12 and up (unless they are on sale).

DisneyAcution pins are tradeable, but why would I trade a $14 for a $9 pin.

I trade DA pins with other traders (there are serious traders outside of Pin Traders at DTD, and there are pin trading meetings at some of the resorts during the week). I only buy pins for my collection - every one in our family (me, DW, DS 10 and DD 13) all collect different characters.

It can become addicting :bounce:

Thanks, I'm glad to hear we didn't get the wrong kind of pins. :Pinkbounc
No these aren't for trading, at least not right now, they are for our DD's, one is a Stitch collector (she's the one really into it) and the other is princess.
We got them all in the 1/2 price sale so probably no real gems to anyone but her. They are nice little rewards for a good job on something they do.

ekmdisney,
Thanks, for all the info and the websites, my DD & I will explore them together
and learn about what they have.

Thanks, YO

Actually, there *are* some $6.95 rack pins. I saw some last week, both in the parks and at the resorts.

To the OP, congrats on getting the Auction pins at half-price. That's a great deal! By the way, all pins with a "[copyright symbol] Disney" are considered tradeable with the WDW-CMs. The rules are somewhat different at Disneyland (and subject to change, etc.)
PinPics.Com is a great resource. You can really figure out what your pins are worth to other collectors plus other stuff (like where your pins are from, how old they are, etc).
And then there's always this forum :teeth: !

Happy pinnin',
agnes!
