For those of you looking for some reasonable priced pins for trading, the Disney store online has sets of 4 pins for $5.99. These are 2003 ''Merry Christmas from Mickey Mouse" sets. There are 6 different sets. Check Mousesavers.com for discount codes to use. Also, free shipping for orders over $75. Mine worked out to $1.27 + tax each.

Will the CM's at WDW trade for these pins (individually) since they are part of a set?

Yes, they will. As long as the pin can stand on its own.

So say you have a pin set of the 1999 numbers. You could not trade them off one by one. You would have to trade them as a set. Because they do not work by thmeselves.

But if you have a set like the sports pin set that was released in the catalog a few months ago. You could trade them off, one by one. Because each pin did not need the other to be complete. They were 5 pins (I belive) of the Fab 5 in different sport outfits.

I hope I have made some kind of since. It is 3 in the morning.

Check out pinpic.com. They have pics of some of the pin groups that have been sold. There you should get an idea.

Thanks for the heads up. I missed some pins when they first went on sale. Bought a whole bunch of these to trade.

I was thinking of doing this, but was being lazy about it. If I didn't read your post, I probably would've waited longer and missed out (again)! These are not pins I would keep for myself, and I bet there were better deals to be had (were there?) on this sale before I finally got around to ordering. I did miss out on the framed Tink pin set....but I got 10 sets of these for trading and a few other goodies (lanyard, pool, Cinderella doll) and an additional 15% off with the Disney Visa code. Plus, no shipping for over 75. I hope when we finally get back to WDW (probably 9/04) these will not go to waste. I traded lots of pins in 10/03, but only with CMs. Will the CMs have different pins this year?

I am trying to order as described above, but my Disney card discount is not showing up. Am I doing something wrong? I entered both discount codes shown.

Thanks,

Sheila

Don't forget to use the code NEWYEAR04 for an additional 10% off. If that code doesn't work call the 800 # and they will manually give you the discount. That is what I had to do.

I have gotten sooo many questions in the store I thought I would share on here also when I saw this post - maybe it will help someone out.

I work for The Disney Store and although we used to carry pins we will NO LONGER! They have taken them away from us to make them 'more special'. It is just another thing that has become a park exclusive item (except for special promos through the catalog).

You would not believe.... I have atleast 5 people come in the store requesting pins every shift I work. I'm sorry to say we don't have them... they were a big money maker for us. (I hope Disney knows what they are doing!)

and the New Years code? I bought about 50 pins at the same price as the OP, using the Disney Visa code.

In spite of two emails and two phone calls, I never persuaded them that I should be able to get a discount AND free shipping, even though the free shipping promotion popped up and said you had to purchase "75% pre-tax and after discount". They said that the other two discounts stated that they couldn't be combined with any other promotion.

Did I understand from earlier posts that some people did get both a discount and the free shipping? I was debating whether to write a letter about this or just let it go.

I was going to try just redoing my order on the website and then cancel the original if this one turned out cheaper, but I was having trouble with the site last night. It was doing real weird things. I might try it again today.

It was about 75.52 before tax and shipping, and after I had applied the Disney Visa discount. Since my oder was over 75, it didn't add any shipping as I was checking out (I chose standard shipping). They did add sales tax. I hope they don't tack shipping on to my order after the fact. That would raise the price of my bargain trading pins.
I would redo my order first on screen (just to make sure everything is still in stock) with the discount code applied, then call and make sure I could cancel the old order before it ships. As soon as you are sure the order hasn't shipped, I would submit the new order. The amount of the order has to be at least 75 after you have applied the discount.

I'm not trading many of mine. I really like the 3 little pigs set (the cheap one) and many of those advent calendar ones. Got us Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow pins, who my parents (who were born in the '20s) remember fondly. Also since my kids have been watching those wonderful Disney Treasures DVDs (esp Silly Symphonies and Mickey Mouse in Black & White and the first Mickey Mouse in Living Color sets) they recognize and love them too. Now we just need a Wise Little Hen set with Peter Pig and the first appearance of Donald Duck...

We have traded for two years with the cm's. They all have different pins. They even had children (green) lanyards that only kids can trade with the CM's. You will find many pins that you would like to trade with the CM's. Last year we went through all of the stores down Main Street in MK. There were so many CM's wearing the pins. My son loves doing this. We must have traded about 200 pins on that trip.

Looks like they're all sold out now. I'm glad I was able to share this good deal with others. Happy trading!
