Does anyone know if they allow pins through airport security? I was hoping to use the time on the plain to distribute them among my kids. If I come to security with a bag of pins will they give me a hard time?

Our pins went through security with no problem last week, both leaving Boston and leaving Orlando. Just make sure they are in your carry on. :goodvibes

Every time I have flown with my pin bags and lanyard I packed them in my carryon bag and never had problems taking them through airport security, then taking them onto the plane.

It's been years but we never had a problem either. I'd definitely recommend keeping them in your carry-on though. I've heard more stories about problems with pins missing after checked bag searches than about pins not passing security. In fact, I've never heard of pins not passing security.

Be prepared for security to search, though. One time they did look through the big mass of metal that was a bunch of lanyard traders we had, but everything was fine.

when ever flying with my pins never had a problem i keep them in the pin bag separate from everything else keep them as one one personal item and putevery thing else in my back pack. when putting the pin bag in the bin I leave it face up with pin logo showing if its not to busy I warn them there is a bag with loads of metal LOL i also keep the zipper un done in case they need to check
this yr at logan one of the security people checked to see what I had just out of interest mainly as I was waiting for my bf camera things get checked!

No problems at all. I had my 'pin pack' that has pins mounted on the 'pages' and I also have my lanyard and usually a couple of small sandwich bags full of loose trader pins. I'm sure it looks funny on the x-ray but never had any glances at them. I finally had a bag check done leaving MCO one time. My back pack has all my camera stuff, lenses, flash, memory BATTERIES galore, cables and wires that were all nice and wrapped up, but had slid to the bottom of the backpack and I think looked a little wierd, so they checked it out.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I was hoping to keep the kids busy on the plane with them. Looks like I will have no problem
