I meant to ask a CM while as was there last week. They're so beautiful there in front of the castle, and they have them on Buena Vista St as well. I'm just curious as to what kind of tree they are. I may have a special spot in my yard for one of them.

I assumed cherry blossom, too, though the blossoms are more vibrant than I am used to seeing.

Yep - Cherry trees are certainly blooming here in California. Along with the Almonds and everything else.

Been blooming for about 3 weeks now. I know because we're nearly out of allergy pills.

Looks like this type of tree only does well where it doesn't freeze. And that kills it for where I live. Darn.

The ones up here certainly are, and the Seattle area is likely colder than the Anaheim area. I know they are cherry trees here because they have fruit later on, and the fruit is cherries. :)
I looked it up, apparently they're blooming early this year, because it's been warmer than usually in PNW. My neighbor has some, what they did was stagger them with other pink flowering trees that bloom for longer so they'll get the pink blossoms for longer than they would with just one type of tree.

It was a very early spring this year in So Cal. DL looks beautiful and the trees are extra bright this year because they're not faded out by too hot sun. Glorious trees!

Who would have thought? I actually have one of these in my front yard. It's just a different color. I feel like I should have known better...

I was in awe of them this past weekend. The hue in the pink is absolutely stunning.
