My 8 yo is in the cub scouts and he is of Bear rank. His car won the pinewod derby last night !!! We had a blast building it together. He won it two years ago too. Also I lost 25 lbs. since Thanksgiving. I am eating lots of Progresso or Cambell soup at mealtime at work. and cut out snacking while at home and dusted off my treadmill. Life is great.

HEY!
Congratsulations on the Derby Victory! :) Oh that bring backs alot of good memories! :) Scouts is a wonderful experience for a growing lad (sounds predey good for the parents too ;) ).

And A Big Congratsulations on your weight loss!!..You'll only keep feeling better and better as you progress!
Keep Up The Great Work!! :)

I loved doing the Pinewood Derby with my son when he went through Cub Scouts - it was always one of the highlights of the year! :) Congratulations on such a fine showing!

Congrats too on the weight loss! WONDERFUL! :)

Congrats to both of you! My Pinewood Derby days were 30 yearas ago, but I remember it was a lot of fun. I wish I still had my racer :D

My DH's Boy Scout troop is all in high school or close to it, and they were so bummed that they got too old for Pinewood that the district made a special event justfor them. They are taking older cars or building new ones to race. Just supposed to be a quick run after the actual derby, but they are really getting into it. DH is getting together some "prizes" and stuff for them. They never outgrow it. Next year, they may have a division for parent because this is just too much fun.

Congrats to both of you.

We used to have an open class that kid and adult could race in. The only rules were the car had to fit on the track and cause no damage or injury. The reigning champ was one of the dads that put a motor in the car that drove one of the wheels via a belt. He had a microswitch in the front that turned on when the gate dropped. The boys loved it. Everyone tried to beat him for years.

When our boys were that age we had a separate division for parents and siblings so no one felt left out (and the cubs actually had a better chance of building their cars). We always had ours at Blue&Gold Dinner. Sometimes you really miss those simple days even though they didn't feel that simple back then!

Gee, thanks for the memory there, Joe. Enjoyed doing that one with Vince a number of years back, the days do fly by. Congratulations to you both.

And super job on the weight loss. That's great!!!!! :bounce:

Congratulations on both!!!! Our lives are running a close parallel to each other! I've lost 40 lbs since the end of Sept....and my 8 yo DS will be participating in his first Pinewood Derby next week. He's so excited. He and DH are working on the car today.

Congratulations on the Pinewood Derby win and the weight loss! Your son must have been thrilled to win - my son loves to participate also. His derby isn't until March.

Congrats to you and your son.
My DS6 just had his first PWD today, and finished 3rd out of 53 scouts.
This makes him eligible for our District PWD and it is held in one of the pit garages at NH Int'l Speedway....the boys get such a thrill out of this....and the dads too....LOL....

Congrats! DS doesn't have his derby for a few weeks. I think I am going to have to help him this year since his uncle is working major manditory overtime right now. Wish me luck!

Congrats to both of you on your successes!!! This is the first year in 5 that we've had no Pinewood Derby. In DS's final race he won 3rd place for Webelos and went to the district race too.

Cool! We were at our Derby yesterday, DS is a Bear. Last year he won the whole thing, and this year he came in second. It's a lot of fun. I was trying to persuade him to go for the "most creative " car and go w/a WDW theme;) but I was outvoted as that would not be aerodynamic enough. I guess after he tasted the thrill of victory last year that there was no way he wasn't going to try and defend his title. Congrats on the weight loss as well!
