Yes it is still popular, you will have absolutely no problem finding CMs to trade with. I honestly thought I'd have to keep a look out for CMs with pins or my DD wouldn't trade anything all trip long. Guess I just didn't notice how many had them before since I wasn't aware of pin trading.
