We arrived back from florida this morning and have been looking through our families pin trading collection and we have about 400 pins.

At the momet we keep them on lanyards but I was thinking about putting them in a book, but they are $40:eek:, has anyone come up with an alternative?

I'm quite handy with the sewing machine :thumbsup2

Some people put them on cork boards but because I collect and don't trade I have a few pin bags.

Me and DW share a pin bag that we got from ebay for our Tigger/Grumpy pins. DS and DD each have their own. The one me and DW have looks like it was home made - albeit very well. It is a basic satchel with the 'pages' sewn in. Each page is double sided and separated by a strip of velcro so you can split them to get the pin backs on.
To be honest $40 doesn't seem that much to ensure a collection that you have nutured and helped to grow is kept safe from harm.
Another thing I have seen is those big picture frames - or even the box frames - where the back has been covered in a coloured felt and the pins stuck into it. But by the time you have bought enough of these for all your pins it will work out being more expensive than the bag.

I got a plain pin bag from ebay when I needed something more spacey to display my pins. I'm sure I paid around £20 for it.

I do have some of my favourite pins on display in picture frames though and they look great (if I do say so myself :rotfl2:)

I got the DLRP pin trading bag, it wasn't cheap but I wanted to look after my Pin collection

I have around 500 pins which are kept in 3 large pin trading bags. The bags weren't exactly cheap to buy but they are nice and it keeps the pins organised in my collection. I also have a smaller pin trading bag which I take on holiday with me to keep any traders in. On the collectors board I have seen some nice pin displays where people have made banners out of material and attached their pins to that to display. Maybe take a look on the collectors board, people there will probably have some great suggestions.

By no means to the extent of 100s but i am displaying my 18 or so pins in a frame that i put together (i suppose if you had more you could use a bigger frame / several)

I got a bit arts and crafty and wrapped fabric around folded wadding, and put it in quite a deep frame and display it in my living room - i absolutely love it!!

Thanks for all your ideas

I think I will probably have a look on the collectors board and maybe do some photo frames. I am about to start a scrapbook for our holiday so I can use the papers from there.

Many thanks
