Pin trading

I was a collector long before I was a trader, and recently my 7 yr old became interested so I've now become a trader also, but we usually only trade with CMs and on pinpics.: A shark actually tried to talk my son out of one of my 1980's pin (he wanted to wear not trade) for a HM. I was in ear shot and told her off for trying to take advantage of a child. We go almost on a weekly basis since we have our passports this year, whenever she sees me, she folds up her case and leaves...:cheer2:

It's not really hard to find CMs with pins, but there are quite a few that just don't wear any.
Well... have you watched some people interact with CMs with lanyards? Some pin traders get very aggressive with CMs with lanyards. They do not have to wear the lanyards, they choose to. So, if you had people get aggressive and upset with you, would you opt for wearing them or not?

The upside is that there are a lot of "suits" wearing pins, they usually have good pins and they usually get annoyed when people ask to see their pins so its a win-win!
Hmmm, I have not found suits to get annoyed when I ask to pin trade with them. I usually see them on the parade route, more than happy to trade when asked. Where have you asked them when they are annoyed? Sounds odd.

Pin trading is a slippery slop. I got some pins a couple of years ago for my girls and now it is out of control!:scared1: I'm glad they enjoy it though.:) We have never had any trouble trading on either coast.:cool1:

So we are going on our first trip to DL, an my 8 yr old is intereste in collecting and trading pins- How much o the pins an lanyards cost at DL? I am wondering if I should go ahead and get him a beginner set off of ebay so he can have some to start off with when we get there...

I wonder if it's the same lady who tells us everything we have is garbage/fake/scrappers. LOL I bet it is....I won't trade with her, I'll look at her pins and let her look at ours but unless she has something realllllllly special I refuse her trade offers. LOL That woman makes me crazy, she and about 4 others I've run into give pin trading the bad rap it has and makes people hesitant about trading with anyone other than a CM.

Starter set prices vary based on how many pins you get, they are anywhere from $29.95 and up, lanyards alone are $6.95 for standard adult lengths. There are smaller ones for kids but it's been a few years since I bought them, I think they were probably $4.95 but the price is likely at $5.95 now. Buying on eBay can be good as long as you find a good seller. Check the collectors board for a list of sellers that people have been satisfied with. Be wary of sellers with a lot of large lots, these sellers are most likely selling "scrappers" which are rejects and are sold on the secondary market. :)

for 43 dollers you can get 25 for your kids from the site i posted above. the pins at the park are to much we buy one nice one each. the rest are from the site an we buy enough to trade the whole time. its a fun an free (besieds what you pay for the pins)
