Hi I was hoping some one could help me with a few pin trading questions , we are going disney in feb for the first time and my daughter is keen to try pin trading I am planning on letting her buy a few sets of pins she likes at the parks but wanted to get some that she won't like as much so she can trade them I was thinking of getting about 10 for her to trade if she wants. I have looked on ebay but there are so many I don't want to buy ones that are not tradable .Some say "Offcial Pin Trading" and some just say "Copyright Disney" on the back ,are they both tradable ? or just the ones that say "offical pin trading"
sorry to ask such a long question
thanks Lisa

If you have a Disney Store near you check there. In the past few months I have picked up some Meet the Robinson, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell & Pirates of the Carribean pins. Some of them are super small (smaller than a dime) -- they are just face pins. I am putting these up for our next trip (probably '09). I know that is a long time to hold on to pins but I got them at a great deal and I couldn't pass them up. The face pins were around $2.99 for 3 pins. If you can't find them in the store, ask a sales associate about them.

I bought these same kinds of pins for our trip in May of this year b/c I thought might want to do the pin trading thing. He absolutely loved it and can't wait to do it again on the next trip.

You can pretty much trade with any pin that you have. I have traded Disney Store Pins, Disney Cruise Line Pins and Disney Pins. In Disney or even on Ebay, they have starter Lanyards that have 2 sets of each pin on there so they get to keep on and trade one.

Trading with the cast members is always great too. They usually don't have "rare" pins on and will trade with the little ones. Plus, kids just LOVE to trade pins.

The problem is, pin trading can get expensive, so I would see if you can find a "lot" of pins on ebay that would be inexpensive but great for trading with other kids.

Have fun.

You said it! My son IL bought my DGD 10 pins to trade when I took her to Disney last August. She was instantly hooked so I bought sets of the cuties for her to trade. I cannot even think about what we spent on pins, but it was worth it. I had no idea what i was doing though so some CM's helped us to guide her. At 5 she caught on quick. After 7 days she did not duplicate one pin.

My SIL has since bought a lot of pins on EBAY for her to trade. She is happy that she has graduated to the bigger pins to trade and he has been able to find some nice bargains. She still has not duplicated any of her pins.

Your little one will have so much fun.

I bought two lots of pins (about 20 total) off of ebay to take for DD to trade in June. She got a couple of princess ones she wanted to keep. A couple of ones she didn't care about and wanted to trade and a few that we had to talk her into trading for princess ones when we got there.

Although she said she wanted to collect princess pins, she also wanted to keep the Donald duck and Mickey and Minnie and chip and dale and all of them. I told her that we couldn't afford to just buy a bunch of princess pins and that she would have to decide. She ended up trading most of them for princess pins and we bought her a few pins while on our trip too. Now she's happy with her princess ones.

DH and I got into it too. It was fun. We bought a lanyard the first day and put a few pins on it everyday and took it everywhere with us. Next time though I will buy a few more off of ebay to take to trade. Once DH got involved in it they got traded away pretty quickly.
