I just picked up some pins and lanyards at our local Disney store(they were marked right down) So although they did not have a great selection left, the staff told me to buy some, then trade them. We have never really understood the whole pin trading deal, so for a newbie, what do i need to know? The lanyard came with 2 mickey pins on them, does that mean i can trade those? Are there special places to get cool pins? :surfweb:

did the same thing for my kids, so any info would be great. They are looking forward to trading them already for star wars or pixar themed pins. Can you get those types of pins from trading?

Typically, this is the way most people get started with pin trading. Lanyards with starter pins are usually considered that one pin is to trade, and one to keep, but if you don't particularly care for the pin, then you can trade both. There are links on this board, in other threads, that tell you the "rules" of pin trading. One of the biggest is that if you see a CM that has a green lanyard on, they will only trade with children.

You will find all types of pins for trade including star wars and pixar. Most kids go for certain characters or movie themes when they are trading. For my DS11, he is really into pins with Stitch on them.

Before you get too far into the trading thing, make sure you visit sites like Pin Pics and Diz Pins to learn everything you can about pin trading so you can get the most fun out of the hobby, and avoid the ever growing pitfalls that come with it.
