Ok , basicly the title says it all. When on our last trip i got a lot of pins on ebay for trading. My daughter at first was hesitant to trade then ended up liking it a lot. We do flea markets and such and she does end up with nice stuff. But , we never asked at the fort. If she didn't see active boards or people trading she was shy and didn't ask. Is it just ok to walk into say the store and ask for pin trading? Where they do it would be nice to know. And what has changed with covid. She got a special one last year, after demanding to see the better pins. Lol. She saw the hidden pins one cast member had and demanded to see them. So shes not shy when she wants something. And i always taught her to ask, even when bargaining, because you dont know if you donk ask.

There is/was a large pin trading board in the Settlement Trading Post that my DD traded at with Cast Members back in the day. I don't know if it's still there. If you walked in the main doors across from Trails End, it was in the back right corner on the side wall. DD knew it was there from pin forums and just walked in and asked if the CM's would trade something. It had two doors that were closed on the case that swung open, they traded with her, then they closed the doors again. Looking at it you wouldn't know what it was.

It wouldn't hurt to ask if it's still there.

That helps. If it was closed we wouldn't have seen it. Looking for some free entertainment. Unfortunately, she did get into the wizzards game, but thats gone. We may try and do the pirate thing if its still there. Paintbrushes are long gone. We did do some of the animal explorer thing last time also. And collected the transporteation cards. Just looking for some diffrent stuff. Maybe we will try to find someones name in cement? Who knows.

It's "okay" with me if you want to go look for names, Assistant Chief.

You can stretch out the search for days or an hour.

PS - this is somewhere in the Fort (for newer readers). There's about four other folks that have found it. It took me a LONG time (and several attempts) but persistence paid off.

In general, trading is quite different than it was pre-Covid. Our son traded multiple times on a board at the Meadow Trading Post last month. We didn't look for the book at Settlement. Unfortunately, the boat shed was closed, so no access to the buoys filled with pins that they'd had in the past.

As for asking - go for it. If they don't have it where you are, they can often point you to where it can be found. The loss of the direct cast-member trading is unfortunate, but I'm not sure it's coming back. I'm not 100% confident in the longevity of trading as a whole. The dearth of pins available at Pin Traders in Disney Springs was disconcerting. Could be supply chain issues, or could be Disney cutting back on something that might be reaching the end of its life. Only time will tell!

I will just have to instill the desire to ask in my 9 yo. Not an easy task. I will just tell her if you ask for pin trading you may win an i phone, that should work! Lol. Thanks for all the repies.
