Pin Trading Questions- Please Help!

Does anyone know where the piece of history pins can be purchased?

Also, I heard that there are birthday pins you can get for free while in the park. I'll be going for my birthday but won't be there on my birthday.. (still in high school, have to go on spring break!) Will they still give me a pin? And does anyone know what they look like? Are they month specific or anything? I'm completely new to pin trading and full of questions!

And just to make sure.. only pins with the D imprinted on the back are considered tradable?

The only "birthday pin" I got when I was there was not a pin but a button that said "It's my birthday today." There may be something new that Disney is doing like the birthstone pins or a general "happy birthday" pin that's not month or age specific.

No. The Disney copyright does have to be on the pin somewhere, usually on the back, sometimes on the front. Exceptions to this include pins from Disney partners that have a tie-in to Disney. For example, pins from Planet Hollywood or Rainforest Cafe at DTD or the RFC at AK are tradable, but Planet Hollywood pins from Atlanta or DC, for example, are not.

I'm confused now. I've done a lot of reading on a lot of disney trading sites- but I know that somewhere I read if you go to Town Hall on Main Street and tell them it's your birthday, you will receive a Happy Birthday pin (free of charge.)

As Obi-wan-Pinobi pointed out, it is not a pin, it's a round button that says "It's my Birthday." They do have happy birthday pins for sale - not for free.

To non-pin traders, the word pin and button are interchangeable when in fact they are different.
