So I never thought it would happen, but I think on my last trip to WDW I became a bit of a pin trader! I definitely am more interested in them now than ever. Is there a pin trading forum anywhere, or can we talk pins here? I am looking to track down a few, and while I don't have many to trade, I would buy some from people, especially if someone was looking to get out of the pin business and just wanted to sell off their whole collection to a neophite pin collector who knows nothing about pin collecting but would be a worthwhile recipient of cheap Disney pins!! :thumbsup2 If someone got me started with a good pin collection, I'd definitely do this: :dancer:

On the DIS, you can talk to other folks about pins and such here.....

http://www.dizpins.com/ Also has a discussion board, but the filters catch the URL, so if you go to their page, you will see it linked at the top. Also, there is Pinpics.com, if you wish to do trading online, catalog your collection, or just see many of the thousands of pins available.

We got sucked into the hobby and now have over 1000 pins. I never ever thought that I would have over 100 of them. :rolleyes1

Wen we are in WDW I use the pins as a reminder of where we have been within The World. For instance this past trip to WDW we ate dinner at Boma, we had never been to the Animal Kingdom lodge so after dinner I went to the gift shop and bought myself an Animal Kingdom Lodge pin. I did this everywhere we went and when we got home last week I looked at the pins we had collected and ended up with a pin from A.K. , the Poly, All Star Sports Resort, M.K. (we have several from the parks but all from different attractions) EPCOT, H.S. , the Disney Wonder (including a couple Capnt's choice pins:-)) and one from Castaway Cay!

What I cherish most are the Cast Member pins i bought when I was a CM.

So all in all I have many pins but each one represents a specific memory of a new place or area within a place we visited at WDW, but I guess this is true for most.

Now I just need a good Pin holder to put them all in, right now they are just in the bags I bought them in.:goodvibes

I'm a "just for fun" pin trader. I'm quite happy with my twenty or so pins. By trading with CMs, I created a lanyard of Classic Mickey and Walt Disney (the man) pins. I love talking to the CMs and looking for pins that I like, even if they have no special value!

I love there pins but I can't pay that much and then trade it away! so I buy pins for me and stare at them:laughing:

I am glad you've found a new fun hobbie!!!:goodvibes

My six year old is going to trade pins this time. I've bought about 10 pins from the internet and a lanyard to get her started. How does she know which pins a cast member will trade and which the cast member is collecting? I'd hate for her to ask about a pin that she likes and the CM say "No." She is only six and a bit spoiled after all she is my only child.

My mom gave my sister and I pins after we got back from WDW, as a 'last hurrah' gift. I think it would be hard to trade any of them; I'd have to buy ones I didn't like!

My favorite pins are Tinkerbell, Nightmare Before Christmas, Attaction pins, and characters dressed like other characters.

I felt like such a geek when I first started buying them, but DW and I love them. We are like some of you describe - we buy the ones that remind us of things we've done on trips or places we go at the World. I got my hands on a PI pin last time down, and I really wanted to find an Adventurer's Club pin but couldn't! :sad2: Hopefully I can track one of those down in December!

I had the geek feeling too but I got over it as I started to grow my collection.
