Pin Trading and Bags?

my daughters LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to pin trade. they have the eagle eye and look for the lanyards on cast members. they have so many now and the bag we got for each of them to store them in is full and they don't seem to work that well for displaying. they are the bags from Disneyland.

How do you store your pins? what have you found works well to display them when you or the kids want to look at them?

they want to keep the princess pins together, Mickey and Minnie together, Chip and Dale together, ETC.

any help would be great.

Boy we had the same issue. I collected Plutos and Hercules, my daughter was princesses and villains, etc. What we did was bought posters (like the Hercules movie poster) and had it mounted on foam core so it has like a 2-3 inch border all around it. We had them put a picture hanger on the back, and we put all the pins around the poster. It looks awesome. When they get full, eventually we'll frame them. We get so many comments on them-- especially the Pirates of the Caribbean one.

I'm at something like 8 posters now that I think about it.... and when we just got back from DL a week ago, the bag our pin bag was in was overweight. The nice lady said we could take some weight out and my husband was like "the pin bag". That bag was 7 pounds!!

Oh I'm so glad you took those out! Don't ever check pins; you stand a chance at having them disappear...

I filled two of the pin bags and then went to binders with the pin pages for them.
Have 3 of those so far. I also like to separate them by category.

We got a large frame and nailed cork board to the back of it. It is hanging in my daughter's room with her pins on it. She decorated the frame herself and just loves it. It's a fun way to display them.

We have some in frames, some that are on cork boards, some that are in our pin bags and some that I'm getting ready to list on eBay! LOL We usually just cork board or frame them.

Ohh I love this thread! I love talking about pins!!

I am also a pin nerd. I don’t show mine though, like I don’t even trade mine. I used to but then I got the ones I wanted soo I just keep them. But I have a black lanyard, and I wear like 15 of my pins on my lanyard. So I guess that is kinda like showing them..right? anyhow when I buy pins I buy certain ones to wear and certain ones to frame.

And the other day I just found out that I have this one gravestone pin from haunted mansion, I guess it was part of a set—well the pin has a hidden Mickey in it, I had no idea. My 5 year old nephew saw it!! lol lol

At home, we have our pins on a bunch of large bulletin boards. My DH has pin books but he hasn't been doing much trading from those as they take up so much space and weight in the suitcases. Neither one of us is a fan of wearing lanyards, so we keep traders in our pockets (boring I know, and can be painful when you lose a back!) and he keeps all the traders in a large bank pouch.

Actually yes, and some LE's as well. I lost my job on Thursday so we are cleaning out some extras.

I use shadow boxes that I got at WOD. They have Mickey heads all over the wood border and are really cute!

We generally buy pins on ebay and they generally have the little mickey head on them (I think those are the hidden mickey pins). We use the same seller and they sell the pins for just over a dollar each. In case anyone is looking - we get some really nice pins each time in those lots.

I will Dreams. thanks I won't have the photos ready for a while yet, we are going on vacation next week so unless I take them before we leave it will be after we get back. I have mixed feelings about our vacation but since we won't get any $$ back we decided to go.....

I think I will, but I will double check. Yes the job loss sucks but I went to the dr today to have my BP checked (mine runs high) and it has fallen a lot, so apparently my job was causing my high blood pressure. LOL

Dreams, Bella, I will let you both know what I've got before I list on eBay, I would rather they go to Disers anyway.

We buy all pins on ebay! Why pay the prices and then trade them? However we do have a slight issue with not wanting to trade the ones we get in a trade!

Will you post your ebay link here or at least the listing number? Or would you like to sell the lot as a mystery lot? I may would be interested in that! I LOVE mystery lots, it is like Christmas when you get them in the mail! You never know what you are going to get!
