I'm pretty new to pintrading so I'm hoping some of you can help me out with some pinselling etiquette.

I had agreed to buy a pin for someone here on the Disboard, and I have yet to receive payment for it. I haven't sent it to her yet. The last we has contact was eight days ago, when it was understood she would send me a check. I e-mailed her yesterday, but so far haven't gotten a response.

How much longer is considered acceptable to wait, especially with no follow up contact from her? I will be in WDW next week and would like to trade this pin if I could (like they are standing in line for Mickey's Birthday Party!), but I would hate to return home to her check and no pin to send her.

Common sense tells me that if I don't have her check by the time I leave, which would be a full 2 weeks since her last e-mail, then I should feel free to trade it, but I wanted to check here with you seasoned traders for your opinion.

She was thrilled I could get this pin for her, and seemed very nice and appreciative. And she told me not to send the pin until I got her check, so I don't think she was trying to scam me...

It is the holiday season and the person could be busy. I would allow the email an extra few days. Besides you still have the pin like you said. If the person does not get back to you in a few days then offer it back up to trade. Also the mail can take a few days longer these days.

Keep in mind that some parts of the US are experiencing longer than usual times for packages to arrive. I noticed that in my area.

Keep in mind, too, that you might want to cash the check & make sure it clears before you send out the pin. I have sent checks to DIS folks & have had no problem waiting for them to cash the check before they send out the pin.

Sometimes there are good reasons why someone hasn't sent something out - be it a pin or the check. For example another person & I had agreed to a trade & I waited & waitied. When I heard from the other person, the delay was due to a death in the family - certainly understandable & our trade proceeded without any hitches.
