Pin Girl's WDW 06 - 3rd Time is Charm Trip Report!/ Page 5- New Added 12/14

Great pics from the Stunt show! I enjoyed the show too, but like the Backlot Tour, I don't need to see it again!

Can't wait to hear if you get to meet TGF next!

Love your report so far. Do you have any good pin trading stories? How often did you trade? Thanks :sunny:

Sorry for the Tardy Replies - I have been slightly under the weather. I have Chronic Condition that sometimes flares up....

G max - I agree about both the Stunt show and the back lost tour - see my MGM comments later in the next part of the trip post....

Hi missj1975 - Thanks for reading the report! I do have 3 really good Pin Trading stories coming up so stay tuned. I trade only when I go to Disney Parks so if I am lucky maybe once a year. Sometimes once every other year. when i am in the parks - I bring a lot of pins and try to look at a lot of Cast Member and Manager Lanyards! :cool1:

Hi VanniGirl - Thanks for reading the Saga! Next installment coming up shortly - stay tuned! :happytv:

Day 3 Continued......

We head out of the Stunt Show and over to the MGM hat (where the pins are) as I remember the Everest Piece of History Pins were to be released Sunday. We get there and someone on one side of the desk buys 3 someone else buys 1 and they are gone. Oh well….I still got that Friday the 13th pin.....

DH’s phone rings and Yes! Al and TGF have made it to the park. We pick up a couple of pins – trade a couple and head over to 1950’s Prime Time Café. So the moment of truth arrives and – well if I said it was not the best first impression – would you kind of understand that? We head into the Café get seated and get a waitress who bugs us about putting our elbows on the table and she is ok – but I was hopeful we would get a livelier one! DH and Al order Chicken, I order Meat Loaf, TGF orders Pot Roast. There is not much conversation. We try to make light conversation, but there is little response from TGF. She seems listless. Everything tastes good.

Here is the inside of the restaurant:

As lunch is ending TGF announces she is tired and wants to return to the resort. (She did partake of a couple libations at lunch so that may have had something to do with it.) DH and I give each other “The Look”. Al Convinces TGF to ride TOT before leaving MGM. Everybody’s Fast Passes are activated – as they got a set before lunch. I decide to skip this one – they go on without me.

I sit in the shade and marvel at how the day could have been and how it has actually gone. They finish TOT and Al and TGF head back to POR. However, before they leave, there was a discussion about pushing back the dinner reservation. At this point people I have to admit I felt a little taken advantage of as I had dutifully made all these reservations from home and I was spending as much time changing them as I was using them. I selfishly decided that the reservation was for 7:30 and I would not be changing it. If TGF missed it - oh well….Though I am not a big fan of it I Lied and told them I had checked while they were on the ride and 7:30 was the only available reservation. I know it was Evil – but it had to be done! DH gave me to “Look” as he knew I was bluffing – but he understood. There is a saying “ Stick a fork in me casue’ I’m Done”. Nuf said.

DH and I decide to head over to the Animation Studio, as the last time we were here we really enjoyed that. We tried to convince them to come – but TGF did not think she could make it. We enjoy the animation studio – although we felt the old format was more interesting as you got to see the animators desks and offices. We pin traded and window shopped our way out as it was getting warm. We also decide to rest a little before our dinner at Artist point tonight. We wait about 10 minutes for a bus and head back to POR.

We decide to take a nap, so we will be well rested before dinner. Al calls DH and asks us to meet him poolside for a drink. I decide to skip it – as I would rather nap. I also know my feet need a requisite amount of rest to feel good the next day – and I have been on them most of the day so far. DH is torn but also chooses a nap. We make plans to meet a few hours later and Al decides to drive to Artist Point.

We meet a few hours later ready for dinner. We are a little surprised as the rest of us are dressed for dinner at a nice restaurant and TGF is dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Neither DH nor I say anything, but we are pretty sure she is underdressed for Artist Point. We arrive about 40 minutes early and decide to have a drink at the bar. It turns out my DDE works for 20% off here too which is cool.

We go to Artist Point and they tell the couple in front of us who has no reservation that it will be about a 55 minute wait. (Boy am I glad we have an ADR!) We ask the waitress about the Menu – she recommends an option where you pick a starter a main course and a dessert, (Saves a little money)which sounds good to DH, Al and me. TGF orders separately and we order Venison Spring Rolls for the whole table. They are very unusual and yummy. DH and I also order a wine Complement for 3 of the courses. (They serve it in tiny glasses so don't think you will be drunk if you want to try this) We get the wine that goes with the Venison out of curiosity. The Mushroom soup tastes like the Portabello mushrooms have been roasted and then made into the soup. Honestly it was the best mushroom soup I have ever had. The presentation was also very nice.

Then they brought the Buffalo. It was served Medium and was quite Yummy. TGF and Al ordered Salmon. TGF left regularly between courses to go smoke and complained about being cold. Before the main course arrived AL went to the Wilderness Lodge Gift Shop to get her a fleece. She also complained that this was the longest dinner and it seemed like it was never going to be over. DH and I gave each other “The Look”. Since it was our last night with Al and TGF we mostly ignored the comments and just enjoyed the nice dinner.

Buffalo Remains - this is one of those times we forgot ....

This was a really incredible meal. DH, Al and I were having a good time. Even the murals on the wall were nice.

The Dessert came. Coffee Two Ways (DH) and the Berry Cobbler – which I ordered! OMG the Berry Cobbler was to die for!

Coffee 2 Ways - a Coffee Creme Brulee and a Coffee Cake. DH says it was super Yummy! :

After a really wonderful dinner we did a little pin trading at the gift shop - then went to get the car and headed back to the resort. We probably arrived about 10:15. We said our good byes to DH and TGF as we needed to be at Epcot for 9AM opening the next morning and a 7:00 breakfast was too early for TGF. We were going to go at 11:00 and have a 9:00 breakfast, but that time was too early also. DH and I did a pin trading run through the general store – then headed back to our Room.

Lesson Learned:

If you are an Annual Pass Holder – always carry ID for easy replacement if a Pass is Lost.
1)This was so easy to replace – one of the many things the Disney systems does incredibly well.

MGM was enjoyable – but a half day here is probably ok.
2) For us – we were able to do everything we wanted in a half day – since this was the 3rd time. (Something to think about when we return). Just do your favorites and go back to the resort and relax. :cool1:

You may not take pictures of people if you are just being polite around them.
3) As I was preparing this – I realized we had no pics of TGF. Even though we had the camera when we were with her we never wanted to memorialize any of those moments. So if you arrive home and realize pics of one of the people who gave you difficulties on your trip are missing – or there are not too many – now you know why.

Artist Point was really Wonderful.
4) We enjoyed this meal and would recommend it to anyone. If on the meal plan use the two credits! :thumbsup2

Things that Went Wrong - 1 AP loss - but Easily Fixed.
Things I would have changed: You probably know! :rotfl2: and it would have been nice to have 1 of those Everest Piece of History Pins!
:wizard:

YAY! We finally get to "meet" TGF! I know how it feels to be you. This is why I am very careful in whom I include in my vacations. I have learned that they can affect how you enjoy your time away!

I'm glad you were able to enjoy the restaurant. Thanks for the "food porn" :teeth:

MGM - Since I don't ride TOT nor RnR, I did NOTget up early to visit this park this year, and it worked out fine. We still finished everything early. I hope that they ad something to this park soon!

Again, another great installment! Love the pictures and the TIPS! :thumbsup2

Mmmmm..... Artist Point. :thumbsup2 But that pesky TGF sounds like trouble with a capital T. I'm glad you sutck to your guns and kept that ressie!

Hi Pin Girl. Lovin' your report so far. Came over because of GMax's suggestion. :cool1:

We love MGM and usually end up doing 2 days here as we do all the shows (Muppets 3D Vision, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast) plus we love ToT and RnRC. Still love the Great Movie Ride. DH loves the Backlot tour but I could take it or leave it. Gotta see Indianna Jones stunt show--Dh loves that too. It's hard to fit all that into one day because of the timing of some of the shows.

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! I hope TGF doesn't cause too many more problems. :rotfl:
