Hi everyone! Long time lurker here and first time poster! My good friend works for Disney and gets us 40% off of a hotel every time we go. However, I have recieved a PIN in the mail for free dining (during the time we will be going this october). Question: do you think the free dining is worth it over the 40% off of the hotel? We usually stay at a value or moderate. Ive never done disney dining before because it is expensive pirate: however we are HUGE eaters when we go. Per person, (4; 25 year old girls) we usually spend around 350 each for food for 5 days. Thank you all for the advice! Go bruins!!!:wave2:

If you stay in a value, your 40% discount is only about $52. In that case, I think free dining is better even if you have to pay to upgrade to something other than quick service. In a moderate, you're saving about $80 a night. So, really, either way, the free dining is probably a better deal.

I have found with four people, free dining is a better deal, especially if you are staying value. (Make that four adults)

I've actually been crunching the numbers on this over and over the last few days for our upcoming Sept. trip. We have 4 adults, 2 kids under 3. The oop cost for the dining plan is $1145 for 4 adults. That comes out to $286.25 pp for 5 days. Keep in mind you have to upgrade from QSDP if you're staying at a value, unless you wanted QSDP and I would imagine you'll still need some extras oop. You'll just have to see what world best for you. In our case, we definitely come out cheaper with FD.
