Pin Collecting and Lanyards?

IS pin collecting big on board? who trades?kids?adults? Also what are lanyards? Help!!! Donna

Yes, pin trading IS big onboard. People of all ages trade or purchase pins. There are LOTS of special DCL pins you can only buy on the ship (unless someone else buys them and resells them). Lanyards are those "ribbons" people wear around their neck and display their pins on, sometimes with a plastic holder at the bottom for the KTTW card.

It actually depends on the cruise, but generally it is bigger on the four and seven day trips than on the three. But I've managed to get some nice pins on the three-day every now and then, so it's always worth it to bring your traders! Also, wearing pins is a great conversation starter.

Just back from 3 day cruise. Wanted to do some private trading with cast members, but it was to no avail. We had pins from the 3 Broadway muscials. The cast members were really excited, but no one jumped on it!

We (DH, DD, and myself) traded mostly with kids and cast members, both in the parks and on the ship. The kids descended on us like a swarm of locusts! We had Disney Store 100 year pins for trading and ones we got from the parks (mystery pins) and didn't care if we traded again.

They were just so excited to be trading. I made some tough requests, and if the child hesitated, I told them not to trade and never feel pressured into trading if they didn't want to. Most often they didn't end up trading with me. Which was fine.

We came home with a lot of Disneyland California Adventure pins. We were happy. We don't go crazy for limited edition, we just go for those we like. We did come o=home with a ton of cruise pins, cause you can only get them on the ship!

I guess it depends on the cruise and who is on it. Good luck.
