I finally got an email with a PIN code for a 40% discount off a hotel stay. It is for the same time period we are already staying in August. We are going on the free dining package can i use the pin code as well?

Depending on the resort you chose, this could be a better discount.

I agree with the PP..depending on where you are staying and how many people you are traveling with, the 40% off may be a better deal.

Typically free dining is the best deal if you stay at a value and 40% off at a deluxe. You can apply whichever is the better deal if you already have package booked AND there is availability at that resort for that promotion.

The only way to figure it out for sure is to run the numbers. It would depend on the time of year (value season etc..) and the number of people in your party. You can figure it out using WDW.com...but truthfully it would probably be easier just to call them because you can confim availability as well.

Depends on how many people are in the room. I had free dining at CSR for my Sept 26th-Oct 4th trip. When AP discounts came out last week they were 40% off during the week and 42% off during weekends. Because my fall trip is a solo one (and I didn't need the one day ticket that was required for free dining), the AP discount round up being a better deal for me. With the money I saved I was able to upgrade to the DxDDP and Disney still owed my credit card money. (I had already paid for the free dining trip in full, so Disney had to refund me the difference.)

I already have 40% off the room for my Dec trip (thanks to a 40% PIN). However, my mom and my husband are both coming on that trip. If free dining comes out for Dec the free dining code would be better because three adults on free dining beats 40% off the room.

You just have to run the numbers.
