We received a pin code yesterday that let us book free dining for our trip. We tried before but the first 2 days were blackouts. We were staying at POP originally but our pin was not good for a value so we are now upgraded to POFQ and still saving $40!!!! Dec.8-17, 2010 at POFQ with DxDP

Congrats, that's awesome! Your post prompted me to check my e-mail tonight, and low-and-behold I also have a pin code for free dining during blackout periods. Which is great and not so great. We already have an 11-night stay planned during the blackout period. Rooms are paid for, 6-day premium hoppers are paid for (at an extreme discount), but we have to pay for dining out-of-pocket. Our rooms and tickets were purchased through my daughter's dance studio as they are dancing two performances :dance3: at DTD at the end of October. I am considering canceling 5 nights through the studio, and going with the pin code, but I have to see which will be cheaper. It might be cheaper to stay with our current reservations versus the free dining. And, I already an extensively planned itinerary with built-in water park, rest days. Although to have park tickets for each day of our stay would be very cool too. I feel like ... "which way do I go, which way do I go"! :confused3 LOL!!!

Anyway, congrats again~~~

A Pin code is an offer Disney sends to you either through email or as a post card with a special code. You or your travel agent give this code to Disney reservations and it provides some sort of discount. They can be a room only discount, package discount or free dining offer. They are given out randomly and there are many threads on the boards speculating on how to get one. You may want to look into the general public free dining offer(not a pin code) I did not pay attention to the fall dates since we are going in December. Good Luck :)

We were in the same boat- going Dec 7-13. We received a mailed PIN code for 40% off rooms, but it just missed our dates. Then the free dining for the general public posted and it also missed our check in date. SO FRUSTRATING!!!! And then a poster on another forum made mention of a new PIN code via email...and wouldn't you know it, there was an email in there with Chef Goofy. I almost started crying! So happy! :yay:

What is still a bit of a mystery to me is that I called earlier in the week to see about getting the free dining on our existing reservation since our arrival date was during the blackout (12/5). I mentioned I was disappointed because our original arrival date was not blacked out, but we had changed to a date a week later that was. We had not received a post card or email with a PIN, but after putting me on hold the CM said "do you believe in magic?" and said we were getting the free dining. So I don't know if our "official" PIN notification is floating somewhere in Cyberspace or snail mail and I happened to call before it arrived, or if was just given to us. Either way, I'm doin' the Happy Dance!!!

I am going to disney Sept 22-28 2010.. can someone explain to me what these pin codes are?

You don't need a pin code to get free dining. There is a general public offer for those dates that you can add to your reservation (if you have a package reservation at a Disney resort booked through Disney, and if your resort is not sold out for the promotion on those dates)

Congrats to everyone who got the pin!!!! :yay:
@ TiggerTrigger - we will be ther at the same time where are you staying???

I really wish i had received the pin code. I usually goto disney every yr. I feel the free dining really makes it easier to manage that yrly trip. It really saves for a family of 5. Come on DISNEY send me the code so I can go that first week of November. PLEASE...

Happy Disney Planning!

I received my Pin code as well on July 14th. I was so bummed when the free dining was extended and found out the dates we are going were during the black out dates (We are going Thanksgiving week). So you can imagine how excited I was to get that email. Disney Magic abounds!!!:woohoo:

Last year we got the dining pin and that was good even at POP for the free regular DDP. This year we are staying at POP and are signed up for the general pubilc free QSDP, I'm guessing that the pin will not come thru this ear upgrading the free regular DDP at the Value resorts.
