With all of the questions about the venues for the Pin Celebration, here is the Official Info.....

Epcot is still holding the pin celebration event at World Showplace. And...they are also incorporating 3 other locations at Epcot into the event.

The event will kick-off with the Breakfast at World Showplace on Friday. Then ....Figment has invited us into his "home"!! Epcot will have a unique opportunity to invite their Event guests into Figment's "Home", the Imagination Pavilion. Upstairs, in the Atrium Disney has the entire area reserved for event guests to meet DDG artists and have their
pins signed, begin their daily pin pursuits, preview new pins in
development, preview our auction lots, attend seminars, and meet our pin partners from around the world.

This area is very exciting as it houses the original Journey to Imagination attractions, and relates perfectly to the event this year.

The second location reserved for quests is in the Innovention West area. Here the Logo Store will be set-up, multiple
trading locations in well-lit areas, limited edition pin releases and the Pinformation table. This area is very accessible for those event guests who are coming for the multi-day event, without having to walk quite so far back into the park everyday. Mickey is excited about being so close to Pin Central now! Traders will have all the resources they need in closer proximity to the event.

The final location is the America Gardens Theater. Each night, Epcot will hold the auction from 5-6:00pm in this lovely area.

Mickey says that the venue modifications are definitely adding to the excitement of the event this year, and he is excited to countdown... 8 days to go!

Add to the excitment? I don't think so. It will definately make it more difficult for pin traders who use wheelchairs and ECVs. Much more difficult as we have limited power to get between these places. I am getting more and more disillusioned about this year's Pin Celebration. It is less than 2 weeks before it and they are chnaging things around. Plus they aren't even gining info to their own people to set up accommodation for handicapped pin traders.

Thank you for the update Joette...

Thanks for the info, Joette. :)

The Innoventions West area may be more convenient to the main entrance at Epcot, but it adds to the walk those of us staying in the Boardwalk area will have. Plus, it's not exactly a quick walk from there to the auctions at the American Gardens Theatre. If the maps involve the World Showcase (as I heard they were), the World Showplace pavillion would be MUCH more convenient.

The atrium in the Imagination Pavillion sounds interesting, though. I'll reserve judgement on that until I see it.

It still sounds like Disney is putting the best spin they can on things. I just wish I didn't still have this feeling that they're treating us like the "redheaded stepchild" of events. Still, I'll keep an open mind while there and enjoy my time with friends at WDW. :)

they're treating us like the "redheaded stepchild" of events

Wait just a second there, Jedi boy.... what's with the redhead crack?

SOMEBODY is sleeping on the couch tonight

I wonder if Innoventios west includes the Pasta Piazza or what ever that resturant was that closed... I know Xerrox has pulled out of innoventios so that will open a lot of space as well... My guess on this is to spread it around the park after last year they saw most people just stayed in the building and neve left...

But I do agree with you Matt they could have made a few of the venues a little closer. And what happens if it rains with the auction?

Well, I have to say, that although I can't wait to get there, and I expect to have a great time, I am somewhat disappointed in the way this event is being organized.

You know how frantic it gets at these events...we will be in the middle of breakfast and a rumor about a mystery pin at Innoventions will begin to circulate...there goes the $50 breakfast. So, there will be a stampede over there, then to get maps, then a stampede back to World Showcase to get the maps stamped. And yes, Nat, what if it's raining? They left us out in the rain for hours at the Princess Ball, the organizers didn't seem to care at all. Why do I have the feeling that they are laughing at us...they know that no matter how many hoops they make us jump through, we (pin collectors) will still spend a bazillion dollars on pins.

Sorry for the cynical view. Like I said, I know the event is going to be a blast, but I have a feeing that that is because WE are going to make it so...not DISNEY. I hate feeling like I am being taken advantage of.

JMHO

Leslie,
You echo my sentiments exactly! I vented on another discussion board yesterday morning and my negative post was promptly deleted. In fact, the entire thread disappeared. I guess I'm just not "Susie f%$@#*&g sunshine" enough for them. As ususal, the pin trading community is being made the casualty of WDW event services poor planning, lack of commom sense, and utter disregard for the pin traders/collectors in general."Red-headed stepchild" is putting it mildy. Luckily, there are many pins this year I am not purchasing so hopefully my days won't be spent running around like a maniac all over Epcot. More quality Cosmo-drinking time, ya know!
Can't wait to see you!

Frankly if I am not happy with how it is going Friday I am going to head for the other parks and say the H_ll with the whole thing. Especially if I don't get interpreters for the seminars. I can have lots more fun enjoying the shows.

Leslie,

How ironic that you brought up the "rain" fiasco at the Princess Ball event. When I heard about the Pin Celebration location changes - I was thinking the exact same thing.

I don't think Disney really cares whether or not we don't like the set-up. From what I saw and heard last month, they didn't treat the Disneyana Conventioneers very well, either.
