ok sorry if this is TMI but I have a pimple on my face that will not go away. It on my chin about a 1/2 inch from the corner of my lip. It started as a bump that hurt like heck. treated it with the normal acne stuff for a day or two before it finally came to head and popped. usually after they pop it will go away. This one has been here for over a week. . It still really hurts..I have tried popping it again ( i know... but it is bugging the heck out of me!) but nothing comes out...it just scabs and then becomes a bump again...Tonight I thought it was finally going away and it cracked and bled..so we have a scab again...any ideas....

BTW it isnt on my lip so I know it isnt a cold sore or anything like that...I always get pimples my chin when I get my "friend"

Hot compresses help.

Be careful when you play with it so you don't get an infection.

Thanks, I have left it alone for the last 2 days and it is still here and it still hurts.... I think it is a bunch of small pimples together...

If the skin is not broken, I use rubbing alcohol on a piece of cotton. It sucks all the moisture out of the whole area. If the skin is broken it will hurt a ton.

alcohol and stop touching it so much. the oils from your skin will help it get infected more.lift hair away from face. try not to put makeup on it. I think I gave you all the generic standard stuff. wash face well too.

Any chance it could something like a boil instead? I would do as others suggested and wash it, warm compresses etc. If it hasn't healed in a bit of time you may need something from the dr to help it heal i.e., as it may be infected and why it is still hurting.

I get pimples all the time because I have a tendency to rest my chin on my hand. Some just never never want to go away!

A 5 minute trip to the dermatologist will fix it.

No one I know has pimples - you run to the doc the same day - a tiny injection and you are all better.

Sounds like cystic acne, they don't usually come to a head - luckily you only have one. I got a cystic on my cheek in May (right before my wedding :sad2:) and the bump, although smaller but still red, is still here!

You can get an injection at the derm or do the warm compresses and witch hazel application to get it down faster, but you may end up with a red "scar" which can last up to one year regardless. Yay, sounds fun, doesn't it!? :sad1:

Oh and STOP TOUCHING YOUR FACE!! :lmao:

You're kidding right? You go to the doctor every time you get a pimple?? I'd be there every day!!! And the cost?!?! And everyone you know does this? You must not know many people because that is just insane. :confused3

What is the injection you get at the derm?

If it is still a pimple, there is a product called "Bye Bye Blemish". I got it at Ulta. If it is not a pimple but a "wound" that needs to heal, then, nightly, cover it with neosporin ointment and a bandage.

Also, you can take a supplement called Biotin. It promotes hair and skin growth so it may help it heal faster.

There are also a couple of topical products that are supposed to promote healing. Hyaluronic acid helps maintain a moist environment which is better for healing.

There is also a product called Manuka Honey which is supposed to be effective in wound healing. I haven't tried this yet but I like the research I've read and have some on order for the next time I have something I need to heal quickly.

One other thing I can recommend is Joey New York's Chin Breakout Relief. If you KNOW you breakout on your chin every month at that "special time", use this nightly starting about a week beforehand and it will help keep the breakouts at bay.

Contrary to popular belief, wounds heal best and fastest in a moist environment like the one provided by neosporin ointment (NOT cream) and a bandage. If I were you, I'd keep a bandange and neosporin on it as often as you can.

The moist environment also helps minimize scarring which I'm sure we all want on our face.

I say my guess is 99.9% cold sore/fever blister. The pain initially, the looking like multiple pimples, the crusting, the bleeding. Cold sores do not have to be on your lip. Get some Abreva, but after a week, it is likely about to go away anyway.

I have a problem along the same lines..My face is fine--its my upper arms that have acne--its disgusting and I don't know what to do about it... For the first time in my life, I have these gross things going on my upper ARMS. I wash them with facial wash and I've been putting pimple cream, but nothing seems to help!! Ideas?

Try baking soda mixed with a little bit of water to make a paste. It works great. Also as previous posters have said, alcohol works too (applied directly or downed orally to forget all your sorrows, pimple included!)

I really don't think you need to go to a dermatologist for a pimple! He/she would probably throw you out of their surgery. LOL
