Has anyone done this recently on the Wonder? Just wondering if I should bring the stuff along. :)

We did it last Janaury on the Magic. It took a couple of days. Just take it ti the desk

We just got home yesterday from a "Magical" 7day Western. They are still doing pillowcases and shirts. We purchased 2 new white pillowcases, placed them in a zip lock bag, and wrote our stateroom number and childrens names on the bag. Take them down to guests services as early in the week as possible and they will return them to your stateroom on Friday evening.

We just got back and they did it for us as well. It's cute but I did think it would be "more" so I'm going to find some Mickey fabric and put a cute band on the edges and make it a bit more magical. We had 6 characters sign it.....I think it's worth it though. Good luck-Ginny

spencersmom: We had shirts signed 2 weeks ago. You probably thought it was more because of past posts. It use to be so much nicer than it is now. We had shirts sign on our last 2 cruises and we had signatures from every character on the ship on both the front and back. They were really nice! This time we had about 6 signatures. I think too many people were asking and they have lessened it considerably. They weren't at all nice at Guest services when I asked to get it done and they don't deliver them back until late Friday night so you don't have a chance to get signatures missed. I was told that it was discontinued for a while and was just recently back so I am happy we were able to get what we did.

Sweetspot! Thanks for letting me know. I was a little disappointed given what I had previously read. Plus Guest Services was snotty to us too like we were infringing on them. I think it's such a great idea plus the characters can do it without the costumes on at their leisure. You would think they would promote it a bit more-what a great momento to take home.

Oh well, next time I think I'll just take a t-shirt for my son and just have the characters sign that instead of the autograph book-we'll see.

Thanks for responding-I appreciate it! Ginny

Honestly....I can understand where guest service is coming from (though I don't condone them being snotty). Come on...the pillow case thing is not an official policy of DCL....it was someone's idea and it snowballed from there....mostly due to these boards.

I would bet money that people not on these boards would ever think to bring a pillowcase to guest service to have signed.

Plus, even though the characters are not in costume it still takes precious time to sign all these pillowcases. I would not be surprised if one person signed all the different character autographs If DCL promoted it more I bet there then would be a charge involved.

I agree it makes a great momento, but I can DCL's point as well. And, without stepping on anyone's toes....isn't it more meaningful to gather the signatures from each character yourself....sometimes the journey is more meaningful than the destination!!! JMHO

I think its just one more reason to sail on Disney cruises vs. some other cruise line. As for hearing it on this board, how many guest are searching for just the right cruise for there familys. This could be just the thing to catch there eye.::MickeyMo

I tend to agree with mmouse37. What is frustrating is you get different answers from GS on this and other things as well. Also getting the actual character to sign a pillow case is difficult. They will not sign it during autograph sessions, I was told paper items only, and asking them to do it when the are posing for photo ops is asking a bit much.

When we took the Wonder for a 3-day in 2003 we had the pillowcase signed by all the characters. My daughter still uses it. I remember reading back then that the pillowcase had to be Disney brand case. Is that true?

Does anyone know where to get a plain white (Disney brand) if possible? I have checked Kmart, Target and Kohl's. I just want to be covered in case...If not, can you reccomend a nice one that will last?

I think I'm going to bring our pillowcase(s) to the character meet and greets myself. That way I have more control over which characters sign it and also a variety of pen colors. My plan is to have almost 4 yr. old DS carry an autograph book and I'll carry the pillow case(s). We have a 2 month old DS also.

Sandie-

I bought plain white pillowcases from Wal-Mart. I then washed them to take out some of the sizing and then bought iron-on transfers and used my home computer printer to put clip art of Disney characters on them, with each child's name, the name of the ship and the dates.

Even if GS gets snooty with me and tries to not let me get them signed, they are still cute souveneirs this way.

Hope this helps!

We went on the 7 day western in September and when I took DD's pillowcase to guest services and requested autographs the CM asked me which characters I preferred. I just told him that princesses, Mickey and Minnie were the priority and any others they had time to get would be great! We ended up with 26! They were wonderful!

Great to hear Susie! Thanks for letting us know about the kindness after all we've heard about is the not so kind-ness towards some asking to have this done!:D
