Pigeons in Richters 'restaurant'

The birds just get in the way. Even if they were gotten rid of, more would come back. There are many wild animals that live at Universal. Cats, squirrels, lizards, seagulls, piegons, fish... Most stay out of the way, but sometmes strange things happen. Sometimes squirrels find their way into buildings and run around inside. Now THAT was a funny experience. :jester:

Yeah and what do you do throughout the park. They are everywhere you walk. They walk along the side walks all the time. You can't stop them. If you can manage that, why can't you manage the restaurant?

You know, I think the point she was trying to make was that they are like flying rats and she doesn't want to have them with her while she eats....or perched above her toppings!!!

Do you read what people are saying? She feels it's unhygienic and she's entitled to her opinion, whether you agree or not.

Why don't you just get over being uncomfortable on Hulk? (I am just saying this because it's like, you have your concerns and if you don't agree with someone elses, then they should get over it.) I don't agree with that mentality. Universal maybe can't practically do anything about it, but this is a discussion board, to discuss. No need to invalidate her concerns. Everyone's opinion is valid!

Ok...pigeons, lizards, seagulls (Ha! We know they have those there ;) Right Barry??), but CATS? Are you talking about stray cats nearby (okay, stupid question...nah, all park employees have a pet cat they take with them to work. )? Yikes! That wouldn't be good...since some people are allergic to kitties.

And what was this funny experience with a squirrel?

Yeah but she is more than welcomed to just go to another one of their fine restaurants and get the same exact thing for the same exact price. This isn't the case with the roller coaster now that you brought that into the thread. There are so many restaurants that serve the exact same thing. What I can't understand is how you can cope with the birds everywhere on the grounds, etc. in the park yet the restaurant is a problem. If it is unhygenic, then it isn't the end of the world, go a couple of feet to the next restaurant. The coaster I just can't go to the next one and have it be the same as the one I wanted to go on not to mention have the bigger seats that they need. If they can help the handicap so much making almost everything wheel chair accessible, why not the coasters for overweight people. Statistics have shown that 65% are overweight in America. Times have changed and they need to change. Read my post in that other thread on page 3. That will explain every single thing.

Yep, but they mostly stay out of sight. I once spotted a cat in the Jurassic Park area, hiding in one of those grassy, fenced off areas. I saw it, and it freaked out, and ran away, so i followed it, but eventually lost it. Worried about the kitty, I told the next Universal employee that I saw, but she told me that there are dozens of stray cats all over Universal propery.

I'd be worried about the cats at Universal also...doesn't seem like a safe place for them to be...but, cats are smart and usually stay away from people...

I haven't seen many cats in the Studio, but have seen them in IOA. Some employees have even went so far as to catch one or two.

As for the squirrel incident, a squirrel just followed someone one day into my building and he didn't even notice. Next thing you see, there's a squirrel running around all lost. They guy the squirrel followed ended up sort-of chasing it, and was able to catch it and send it back outside. It was in an area where guests could visible see the squirrel, so it was kinda funny hearing their reactions. :D

I can image the guys from the pre-show chasing them around. Heheh.

I think the cats at IOA only come out at night, and live with the dinosaurs in the brush during the day.

Thank you Ms Disney you see exactly where I'm coming from!

Dog,I'm not she my name is Karen.

What do you mean I should just go two feet and eat elsewhere and that I am being ridiculous because there are pigeons outside on the sidewalk. That is exactly the reason I cannot eat outside because often the birds come hopping towards me and it puts me off the food.I accept that because that is OUTSIDE.I do not expect to have to shield my food INSIDE in an eating establishment.

As I said I will simply eat elsewhere in future,BUT still maintan it is unhygienic, not just to me with a pigeon phobia but to anyone who eats off the salad bar in particular.

Hey! We could add this info to the "hidden treasures of Universal" thread:

"Look for the hidden pigeons in restaurant rafters"

Hee,hee, hee. I'm not trying to belittle your phobia Kazzie. (Personally, I hate the dark." I love all animals, but even I think it's a little gross to have pigeons in the restaurants.

It's funny, I never noticed them before. Now I'll have to look.

Apart from the fact I have a bird phobia,I still maintain it is disgusting and unhygienic to have birds near the food.In the UK pigeons are considered vermin like say rats. Are they considered differently in the US? I don't mean that sarcastically I genuinly mean are they considerd as birds and not vermin? In which case I can see why they are considered as 'part' of the restaurants atmosphere.

I have to say that yes, pigeons are considered "flying rats" at least by everyone in my houshold. I hate to see small children feeding them or chasing them as they are so filthy.
Also, I would NOT want them anywhere near my food (say perched above the toppings bar?)
I know that this point may have already been covered, but just to validate the OP's point, even tho mine is not a "phobia", it does creep me out & I do NOT eat there.

Oh btw kazzie that was a typo. I just looked back at my post to see what you were talking about. I type fast sorry. Thoughts going in different directions. :) Yeah it might be disgusting, but wouldn't that make you want to go somewhere else even more. They aren't there every second, you just got to hit it at the right time. Hey if you go at 11:30 when it opens, the pigeons haven't even had time to make their move (just a thought). Hey remember there are also dirty flies (like house flies) that fly around there. I have seen the on the buns all the time. I ask the people there to give me a bun behind the first batch.

Dogg,LOL! I'll let this rest now!

Don't get me started on flies;)

yeah lol first pigeons now flies. I think I shouldn't have said that. Man will you think twice about eating there lol. Yeah those darn flies. "You know I think we need to communicate with the animals, gain their trust, and sleep with their women. Then we will be equals." From family guy :). That show is abosutely hilarious. Should not have gone off the air. Best cartoon.
