Yes, we are thinking of visiting Dollywood instead of our beloved WDW. Of course, I come to the Dis for information. :worship:

Our family of adults will visit for 3 days. One day will be at Dollywood.

What are the area's must-do's?

Where can we find country music outside of Dollywood?

DH is asking for great fried chicken...where?

Any suggestions for evening entertainment. We are traveling with our twentysomething kids.

Thanks in advance. We have never been to TN.

Apple Barn.....YUM!!!!!! If you are there Sunday go Sunday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner...(southern fried chicken served here).......Sunday lunch includes dessert........if you don't have room for dessert, they are happy to package it to go. Lots of stuff to see and look at right here.

We just like walking around Gatlingburg & looking in the shops. The Ripley's Aquarium is fun.

Maybe drive up the Mountain, there are some beautiful places to stop and look, take beautiful photos.

There are lots of tourist attractions (mini golf, go carts, etc). Many different shows. You all might like Dixie Stampede, we've never been.

I'll post another link in just a minute, let me find it. We are about 2 hours from Pigeon Forge so when we need a short weekend trip this is where we head......especially since most of the places have great deals for members of the military.:thumbsup2

You absolutely HAVE to do Magic Beyond Belief show. I went with April and it was fantastic. I am going back next month and want to see it again.

In Gatlinburg the Pancake Pantry is unbelievable!!!!!! Worth the wait to be seated!!!!!!!

Also in the same little area "The Village" you'll find the Donut Friar......:goodvibes........if it's busy though they sale out of stuff quick......get a loaf of cinnamon bread to take home.

We just returned from our first visit there and absolutely LOVED it. We couldn't believe all there was to do and can't wait to return. I second the Apple Barn. There is also a winery there with very delicious wine. We ended up purchasing 6 bottles to take home with us. The Old Mill restaurant was also great as was the area right around it. Very charming. I had delicious trout. They also had corn fritters that were delicious. Parking was also pretty expensive. If you can, take the trolley from where you are saying. If not, the least expensive parking is at the aquarium. We never paid more than $6 there. The Aquarium itself was wonderful. Do the Cades Cove drive early in the morning for a better chance to see the bears. This ride was absolutely beautiful. It did take 4 hours as they stated. You will definitely have a great time. We actually did not do Dollywood (there was so much else to do and this was a low budget trip) but would love to try it next year. Please let us know how you liked it.

The Mill for dinner
Cades Cove in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park
