picturesque places

I have had a new SLR camera and i am trying to think of some places to go to practice taking photos can anyone reccommend somewhere not too far from the midlands

Please share with us what camera you have though, I would be interested to know for one

Alan i have the Nikon D50 i am used to a point and shoot but i am determined to get to grips with manual settings.

One thing you might like to consider when taking photographs with you new camera is changing the picture format to RAW. With RAW all the data from the camera is stored with the picture and you are then able to fully manipulate what is in effect a 'digital negative' using software on your PC such as RawShooter essentials which you can download from www.pixmantec.com.

This will give you more control over the final image than would be allowed to you if you let the camera's software convert to image to a jpeg or tiff which effectively removes all the settings information from the final photo you download.

Most of all though go out and have fun taking pictures and discovering the things that you can do with your new camera

Thanks for the info Alan i am trying to get a 18-200mm lens so i need only take one lens to WDW have you any ideas? at the moment i have 18-55mm and 70-300mm

A quick search would reveal that you could get a genuine Nikon 18-200 which is rather expensive or you could look into a Sigma or a Tameron lense which would be considerably less

Personally I usually carry 3 lenses with me and I don't find this too much of a burden to carry around - although DW usually rolls her eyes at me whenever I decide it's time to change one over

How about Shrewsbury? Castle, Abbey, Railway Station (yes, really!!), Black and White buildings, loads of Churches, River Severn. Then go 13 miles down the A49 to Church Stretton and Cardingmill Valley, and get up the Long Mynd...absolutely beautiful scenery.
