Hi everyone. Quick question, will the characters hold my 10 month old for a picture? I was just wondering if they would or would I have to be in all the pictures too! Hopefully someone might know this answer!

I dont believe they will. I asked this question myself for our trip last Jan. Our DD was only 3 1/2 mos old then, but I think people posted that the characters cant hold any children.

The characters can't hold them but they will kneel down so you could sit your baby down on the floor and they will kneel down beside them. Makes a nice picture and means you don't have to be in them all

We went on the cruise when DS was 9 months old. Every character got down to his level and played with him. I was pleased they got down to his level and I didn't even have to be in the picture if I didn't want to (this was also the case at WDW).

They used to but I haven't seen them do it lately. When my oldest was an infant-2 years old the characters would just reach for her without me asking them to hold her. At the character meals the princesses just whisked her out of her highchair. With my youngest daughter I don't think a single one held her for a picture. I never asked them to either because she is squirmer!! Many of them sat or kneeled and sat her in on the floor inbetween their legs sorta like she was in their lap.

When I worked at WDW (granted that was nearly 10 years ago) the rule was characters could not hold children/babies unless a parent forced the baby into their arms and it was either hold the child or drop it. Otherwise, characters were supposed to refuse to hold the child and just get down on the floor with the child or play with the child while the parent held the child. This was obviously due to liablity.

Yes- we took DS at 6 mo, 8 mo, 13 mo and 18 mo - an adult was in all pictures holding DS at 6 and 8 mo. I was very happy at 13 and 18 mo when he would follow direction and stand on his own - but by then he was scared of them at times, so many times I still ended up in the pictures...

The only exception was at 8 mo at the MVMCP with Santa. Santa did hold DS on his lap for the picture.

I'm not sure if this picture will work, but this is my baby with Cinderella. She was 3 and a half months.

They are not supposed to. Liability. What if Mickey dropped your baby?

Funny story (don't let kids who believe in magic read this!) we went with my 2.5 month old a few years back & Mickey was obviously a girl & obviously had a baby my baby's exact age. I say this because of her/his hand motions & communication. I think it may have even been her first day back after maternity leave. Don't worry, we were the only ones there (adults) and our tiny baby (who wouldn't know.) Anyway, she INSISTED on holding the baby for the pic. At first the handler freaked but then I think she had mercy & could see we were Ok with it & it was safe. It is the most adorable photo (not digital or I would post.) And it is a cherished memory of ours.

Also, we did the Disney Visa thing this past trip & Minnie, who wasn't allowed to hold the baby, insisted we all sat down on the floor so she could have our 6 month old sit next to/on her without breaking rules.

Characters adore the kids so they will try to have as much interaction as possible, but really should not hold the babies. And an adult will have to be in the photo. You should be able to position yourself slightly behind the character with the baby in front of you (if you are worried about body shots.) And as far as your face, truth be told I would not wear make-up at Disney if it were not for having to hold the baby for all those photos. But as long as I have a baby, I'll be in full make-up.

The characters can't hold any children. They will kneel down next to them or hug their stroller. I have a really cute picture of Tigger and it looks as though he has enveloped my daughter in her stroller! I love it. You can all take a family picture with the characters and hold your baby.

Although they can't hold them they will interact with them fantastically- i have some lovely pics of my littlest (19m when we travelled) shaking stitches paw (holding his claw!) and being tickled by dale and squealing with laughter! Darby got down and hugged my 4 year old dd which made her day too.

I enjoyed having to throw an adult in with them- I have some hilarious shots of my DH posing with DS5 and DS19m with the power ranger who insisted DH strike a pose too

Mulan held my 9 month old in her lap for pictures in china. Then again DD was enthralled with Mulan & Mushu. And I think they could tell!

No, they're not supposed to hold them. In fact, at Chef Mickey's...I tried to hand my baby over to her for a pic (I didn't really think anything of it), and she shook her head vehemently and put up her hands. Then, she pointed at his carseat and when we put him in there, she posed next to it and played with him.

We have the best pictures of Chip and Dale and some of the other characters interacting with him. They really seemed to love the babies and spent a lot of time at our table. We haven't had an experience like that since!

Our ds loved all the attention!
