Are pictures with the characters part of the picture package? Or are they separate, like the formal photos?

Thanks!

Good question! A fellow karate mom went on a 4 day Disney cruise recently and told me that she bought the package only to not use them all because all the "special" posed ones, that are apparently 8x10? were not part of it...so I'm curious too, to try to decide if the package is worth it! (btw, they refunded the money for the 4 out of 10 that she did not use, and she used that $ towards a few of the special poses)

Yep. Those pictures are part of the packages and also are available for individual purchase.

Most of the character pictures taken are 6x8s, but the more "formal" pictures are 8x10s. The character breakfast photos are 6x8s, and the photo ops with the lesser characters (ie, NOT Mickey/Minnie, Goofy, etc.) were as well. That does not mean every photo with Mickey/Minnie will be 8x10; we have some taken in the lobby that aren't. It's the ones where they set you up with a special backdrop that are the 8x10s.

I spent a fortune on photos and was really pleased with them.

I bought a package for $85 which gives 10 of the 8 x 6 size. Thats the picture that the kids have taken with the characters. I got 10 of those. I also bought 2 formal shots which are 8 x 10. Those are posed in front of a backdrop.

I did wonder on board whether I should buy them but decided I'd probably never get the chance again to cruise with Mickey and did it. Even if I do get to go again my DD10 won't want to pose again the way she did this time and I have lots of photo memories.

I liked the fact that you can go to Shutters and choose as you go along. If you buy the package you get a ticket marked 1 - 10 and each time you buy a picture a number is crossed off. If you use all ten and then see another you'd rather have you can swop , great idea.

I was finished by the last night but passed by Shutters and it was so busy, even at 11pm !! So don't leave it til then :(.

Do they take pictures when the characters come to teh kids clubs for activities?

I know the package is 10 photos (6x8) for $85, but how much are the 8x10s? We're going in March and I know this will be the biggest part of my budget!

 I thought from the Navigators from the CastawayClub site that characters were involved in some of te activitie sin the kids clubs. And i made teh mistake of telling this to my girls:eek:

No, there were no characters in the kids clubs while we were onboard.

Not quite true (at least on the Magic). If you look closely in the Navigator, the majority of times the characters are in the clubs are not photograph and autograph opportunities. But they do go to the clubs.

Goofy is there for part of the PJ party (which is a good thing, since it is called Goofy's PJ party). He was not there a long time, but he did have an appearance.

There was one activity when the kids were able to create a frame. Daisy Duck went to the club, and each of my DD's had her picture taken by the ship's photographer with Daisy. This was a freebie picture to be picked up later in the club. I don't know if there was another character for boys.

awatt, no concerns - characters do go to the clubs.

And back to the OP - there are many pictures with characters which are 6x8. These are the majority of the ones we purchased.

Are pictures with the characters part of the picture package?

Looking at our pictures, the following pictures are 6x8:
-Donald on Castaway Cay
-Minnie on semi-formal night in the Attrium (although Minnie is wearing a lovely gown)
-All characters at Character Breakfast at Parrot Cay
-Cinderella on the fifth floor balcony between the elevators (woke DD's up for this one - no line!)
-Wendy (at Tea with Wendy)
-Mickey and Minnie on Tropical night in the Attrium
-All candids (many at the Mickey pool and on CC.)

The only 8 x 10 we purchased was the family in front of the backdrop of the ship. I can't remember what other shots were only 8 x 10.

Important thing to remember. If you see one of the ship's photographers, ask him or her to take a picture of you, family, kids, etc. There is no obligation to buy, and you will have a much bigger selection to choose from to make up your package. While I took over 200 digital pictures, the professional ones are very nice and we wound up buying the fifteen picture package
