What online site do you recommend for storing photos and sharing them with friends and family? I use AOL right now and they are going to Photoworks but I'm not liking that site. I would like something easy. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I do "IT". For years I have had my own website/hosting/gallery/etc.

I finally just broke down and signed up for a flickr pro account. I don't have to worry about managing it. They have public APIs which allow for third party software to hook into it. Permissions seem decent enough from a privacy standpoint. People can comment, tag, etc. With the pro account you can get unlimited space and bandwidth.

Is is perfect? No, but I find that rarely anything is.

Another one to look at is picasa. But, there is no pay for, I believe. So, you are limited on your space, etc.

A lot of people on cruisecritic use webshots, I believe. I didn't look at them too closely.

If you plan on posting on here then Photo bucket is great. I also use webshots, but you can't post pictures from webshots on disboards. I'm sure there are others too but photobucket works great for me.

I use Zenfolio
it's a great site...
for 40 a year you get unlimited storage, you can password protect folders if you want, you can set it up so people can buy pictures at lab base prices...
for 100 a year you can set your site up to sell pictures at a price you set...
they use mpix as their lab,
you can also order/sell mousepads tshirts..all sorts of things...
if you use this discount code you can save 5 dollars the first year..

this will take you to the features page

I just started doing HS sports this year and it's great Once I upload pics, parents can go to my site, order pics and I collect the check..
I have it set so I have to approve orders, that way I don't have to fine tune 500+ pics from a game, I do a quick post processing upload, then wait for an order to be placed.. I check the order and if any pics could use a fine tuning I do that , then approve the order for printing
if you want to check it out here's a link to one of my games...

if you click on a photo then add it to the shopping cart you'll get a pop up box showing all the items you can order, there are actually more options, but I haven't used them all in my price list...

I've used photobucket, flickr and now smugmug. I'm in the process of getting my photos of flickr. I don't like that site. I've found it to easy for people to get to your pics. Photobucket is a good place to start and its easy to use. I don't use it any longer. They automatically compress the files down from their original size. If you get pay for a membership there, its not worth the money compared to what smugmug or zenfolio offer.

Smugmug and Zenfolio pretty much offer the same. I went with smugmug because I like the layouts of the galleries better. My coupon code is: eeWMM89aMx1lc to save you $5 off the first year subscription just like Mickey88 has for zenfolio. Smugmug (and I would assume zenfolio as well) has a 30 day trial before you have to actually pay.

I just opened up a SmugMug acct and I really like it. Very easy to use, and lots you can do with it. The best part is how easy it is to share with friends and family - mine are really loving it. ;)

Hmmm :scratchin

Used (and still have) a PBase account for 7 or 8 years. Am in the process now of changing to Smugmug. Easy uploads, decent price, good site speed, excellent and quick support and very nice layout options.

smugmug here.... I like the ability to customize the site.

Check out the link in my sig. That's a smugmug site.

Hi SteppDaddy, I work with the Windows Outreach Team, and would like to recommend, Windows Live Photo Gallery. Windows Live photo has some pretty good tools and powerful organization functions to help you manage all your photos. You can import, manipulate, organize, tag, and upload and publish to a number of social media sites. And it’s free! Used in Combination with Windows Live Sky Drive, which is offers 5gigs free online Storage, of Photos, files, Docs or whatever, that can be shared and you have a great set of tools for sharing your memories. get.live.com/photogallery/overview

I have always used shutterfly for ordering prints and photobucket for posting pics here, but just recently I have had more pics that I want to share with family and friends so I opened a Smugmug account. I really like it so far.
