Picture of Your Carry On...

I haven't flown in like 10 years. I am overcoming this unnatural fear and flying this May

My question is what does your carry on look like? Is it a duffel? A rolling bag? I love Vera Bradley patterns or something similar maybe. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

I don't have any pics but look into the company Thirty-One they have some really cute weekender bags and they hold ALOT!!! I am getting one for our upcoming trip and find that they are a little more affordable than Vera Bradley although VERY similar! Happy shopping!

I go to WDW several times a year and for some reason have accumulated quite a few pieces of luggage trying to find the perfect ones. I love the rolling duffels from LLBean for my checked bag and pretty much stick with them, although I also have a Heys plaid spinner that I like. My carry on seems to vary quite a bit. My favorites though are my plaid Heys Exotic spinner and Vera Bradley rolling duffel. I also have several of the Vera Bradely large and small duffels, a Vera Bradley weekender, a Vera Bradley Get Carried Away tote, and a couple of Miller bags, as well as a garment bag. One trip I tried packing the same stuff in both the Heys spinner and the VB rolling duffel. Even though the VB rolling duffel looks bigger, for some reason the Heys Spinner holds quite a bit more. With the four wheels the Heys spinner is also more maneuverable in the airport, so even though I like the look of my VB rolling duffel better, I usually wind up carring the Heys bag. My husband and I are taking our 3 y/o GS to WDW Feb 4th-11th and I have packed the Heys bag for my husband, so decided to take just a plain Vera Bradley large duffel (not the rolling one) for my carry on and the VB weekender for my personal item (the weekender will not be full, so will easily squish under the seat).

I have the large LLBean rolling duffels in both pink and kelly green that I normally use for a checked bag, then depending on which color I'm using for the checked bag, I have sets of the Vera Bradley in Blue Rhapsody, Mediterranean Blue, Cupcake Green, Raspberry Fizz, and English Meadow. In fact, I have the regular large and small duffels, plus makeup bags to match in each of the above colors. My rolling duffel is Blue Rhapsody, the Weekender and Get Carried Away totes are in English Meadow, and the garment bag is in cupcake green. The small duffel bags make great personal items, as they easily squish up small enough to go under the seats, as long as you don't overfill them. I love my Vera Bradely bags, but again I usually use the Heys spinner more as a carry on, because even though it looks smaller, if you use packing folders and cubes, it holds more than either the Vera Bradley rolling duffel or regular large duffel. Oh one more thing, unless the Vera Bradely site is running a really big special, you can usually find brand new Vera Bradely bags for a whole lot cheaper on Ebay. I think I paid like $50.00 for my garment bag, large duffels, and maybe $29.00 and $39.00 for the small duffels. The rolling duffel I bought off the VB site last year, when they were on sale. The get carried away tote and weekender I bought when the VB site put the English Meadow pattern on clearance a couple of months ago. I was able to catch them for like $50.00 a piece. I love Vera Bradley and have a huge collection of it, but no way would I pay full price for it. lol

Off Topic, but if you like Vera Bradley, be sure to get a large hanging organizer and at least one Trip Kit. They're my favorite VB accessories when I pack. I usually put spray cans of sunscreen in one Trip Kit, all my bras in another, and odds and ends in another.

Like OP, we also travel to Disney several times each year. I've had various bags over the years trying to find 'just the right one'. For airline travel, my carry-on of choice is the Sherpa tote by Kipling. I also have a small cross-body bag and a backpack that I take to the parks. Love the Kipling backpacks....light weight and water resistant. Kipling is currently offering free shipping. Purchase through ebates for extra savings.

I have many many different types of bags I carry - and it depends on where I am going. I think it also depends on airlines. Some airlines are more "understanding" than others. It is a little frustrating, and I do have a small rolling suitcase that is technically the size of a carry on - however I don't use it too often because I have found it to be a hassle with the airlines.

I have several styles of Vera Bradley that I use quite often because they are soft, squishable, etc. I have never had any problems with them.

As far as luggage goes, just my 2 cents, I would suggest you not invest alot of $$ into a piece of luggage until you determine how often you will really use it. I too love the VB carry-on bags, but they are expensive, I don't fly that often, and most of them-if not all-are made of cotton fabric which can be stained or torn easily.

For this first time back in the saddle...why don't you try a discount store, like Big Lots, if you have those in your area. Get a cheap carry-on (we did this and they were only $30/pc, plenty roomy and durable enough for our in-frequent flying patterns).

Just a thought...have a great trip and enjoy the 'freedom' flying gives you in your vacation.

I prefer a small carryon that I can stuff under the seat in front of me. I could fit everything I needed for a 2-4 day business trip in there if I cut out everything I didn't REALLY need. BTW, after years of business travel, I took a new job that no longer required travel. Last month boarded my first plane since 2000

You can carry two items on the plane, one carry on for the overhead bins, and one to put under the seat in front of you. Ours happen to come from Delsey. (My wife used iron on patches to decorate them)

clothes (of course) and electronics go in the rolling bag (for the overhead bins). in the other bag is anything I may need on the flight. (books, magazines, small camera, headphones, phone, Kids DS, snacks, My wife puts her purse in the under seat one as well)

My wifes is the same color but different patches, the blue color really makes it much easier to grab your bag and go compared to a plane full of black ones...
