Picture of the Day October 17th, 2012

Gosh! That kinda looks like one of them LIFE Magazine photos from an essay on life in the city or something!

:)

Jud

Thank you kind sir!! I loved your discription of the brick walkway on the other side of the Monorail station! Very cool! I have walked (and read some of the bricks) from MK to Contemporary.. If I had known the bricks go the other way to that canal shoreline I would have checked it out last week!!!! grrrrr.. oh well, time to plan another trip -- this time for StarWars Weekend!! woohoo

Actually, for several years now, the pathway past the monorail has been blocked off and guarded! I assume if I wanted to go see my brick- which is down by the beach- I would be allowed by the guard to pass, but it is no longer an "open" area, despite that rather inviting looking rest area at the end there!

oops..I caused a misunderstanding...for the record I am a male and all the make-up in the world is not going to make me into a princess :rotfl2: but I appreciate the comments....I figured that if I said that was my wife I may have been thrown into that boiling cauldron.:) Besides, the face was a fairly good likeness of me...especially the crazed eyes. Anyway thank you Jud, Kathy, Carol and Robindianne. It is good be getting back to normal and it is good to have this board to give a release. Unfortunately there are so many people who were impacted more and my heart goes out to them all.

Cyndi, that is a great monorail picture!

here is my POTD...another example of the attention to detail that Disney incorporates...they even created sweat stains in his underarm area.

As I said, seen you without the make up...

Oh! And nice picture! First real detail shot of that I've ever seen!

This is what gorillas look like when they are forced to watch Honey Boo Boo.

The "Walk Around the World", for which, many personalized "bricks" were purchased, including one by me, was originally planned to go around the full perimeter of the 7 Seas Lagoon. Plans changed, and it now runs only from the street crossing from the Contemporary Walkway to the Magic Kingdom, to this point a bit past the Magic Kingdom Monorail Station. Here is the end. The canal breaking the shoreline on the right houses the barges of the Electrical Water Pageant when not in use.
Note the monorail track rising from the TTC to the Contemporary on the far shore, and beyond it, the roof of Wilderness Lodge.

I love this shot! I've never walked that path I forget about it every time I go. I was going to say I would definitely do it next time and then saw what you said about it being blocked off. I wonder why they did that?

I would suspect because it was never completed, and if you go to that end pictured, and turn down that canal, you cam walk right into a back stage area. Wait for my vid, or recall an earlier picture I posted of the storage location for the Electric Water Pageant barges! Given that there is "no one" there, and it leads no where that is public access, I suspect that is the reason. But you can always tell the guard your are looking for my brick! It's down by the beach, park side of the path...
