Picture of the Day - Chatter Thread

The Marshmallow Marsh Excursion is still one of my favorite Fort memories from when I was younger!

I remember sitting around the campfire doing the "Banana Song".

Banana, banana, chomp (take a bite of banana, do not swallow). Banana, bafrana, chomp (take a bite of banana, do not swallow). Bachana, baframa, chomp( take a bite of banana, do not swallow). Bawaw, bachwa, chomp (do your best to keep the banana in your mouth).

I have some old pictures of the Fort and my stays there going back to 1979 once I figure out how to get pictures on here, and I get enough "credentials" to post apparently . Remember the Marshmellow Marsh Excursion? back in 1988 my then 15 y/o daughter (we were from IL then) was left a note by the captain of our canoe (remember how'd they'd call them captains on the ride?) on our van window and then she contacted him and they were madly in love for a while but his being in Georgia and her in IL, plus their ages, finally ended that. But oh what memories. I wish they still had Marshmellow Marsh to show my (new)DH who has (can you believe this??)NEVER... NEVER...been to the Fort much less WDW!!! oh myyyyyyyyy!! So much has changed even though I've been back lots since then but not to the Fort for some time... can't wait for November 2 to get here to check it out. We used to always stay in 1200 or 1300 because they were so nicely wooded and private back in the 80's and early 90's... not now from what I hear :(

I can't wait to see those photos. My FW experiences are limited to recent history. I appreciate seeing the old photos, and hearing you "old timers" spin your yarns!!!

YES... the banana song... and how in the canoes on the trip to the marsh and back they'd ask for someone to start the singing... I'd always start singing Twist and Shout real loud and make my oldest child cringe but she'd laugh and join in...
And the old Chip & Dale's Breakfast at Frontier Hall.... the kazoos.. still have those.. sure hope I can figure this picture posting out soon cause I got tons of them from 1988 because we were on a 4week trip then (you could only stay at Ft W 2 weeks then, had to check out after 14 days and be off site for 24 hours before you could come back) I know for sure and a pretty good bunch from 1979 through 2003. Photobucket's the thing to do right? I'll work on this the next couple days -- oh and lots of River Country memories...gosh I can't wait for the next 4 weeks to pass so I can be at the Fort again!

How recent is this picture? I saw the brown walls up and was wondering what they were doing.

The walls were up when we were there September 15th

Not sure what they were working on.

I wonder if the guy in the red truck in the next lane knows how famous he is now....:lmao:

I finally read your blog today, what a great setup you have, Thanks for sharing that with us.
We stayed at the Cleveland KOA on the way home in June, we saw the rafting ads in the brochure, I didnt realize that area had whitewater.

I thought maybe they were starting the next generation of "lawnmower tree" :lmao:

That was my first thought, too! Lawnmower tree 2.0.

ynottony; where were you standing when you took the picture of the dock with the monorail in the background? I've never seen the monorail from the marina, that's a pretty good picture.

MAN.... if someone runs into the back of that rig they are gonna need to get their eyes checked. Didya get a good deal on conspicuity tape ? :thumbsup2

Its only funny because I have some of it on mine, I love that stuff !
In this day and age, with the driving distractions, you need every advantage you can get.

Hey. As "overkill" as it may be, can you imagine how hot you'd be if some bonehead ran into the back of your RV while you're on your way to the Fort for a much anticipated vacation?:furious:

We installed a bunch of it on the back of all our engines, even with all the lights you still see that tape when you come up on them.
I dont even want to think about something like that happening on the way to WDW.

All the reflective tape in the world couldn't have prevented the ding in my rear bumper - FWgirl was SUPPOSED to be directing me while I was backing up and ran me right into the tongue of my utility trailer in my driveway. I guess it just adds character to my TT.

That rabbit was like no other I have ever seen at FW! The rabbit was so friendly. It came right up to my kids. There was a golf cart that stopped in the street to look at it and it hopped right up to the golf cart and put it's front paws up on the cart!
