** Picture of the Day 3 **

Thanks for the info. Wish I could afford a camera like that, But $1000 is about double the amount that I want to pay for my next camera. However, Please keep the great shots coming.

Have you looked into the Sony NEX-3? I started with that camera a few years back. I now have an NEX-7, with the "3" as a backup ( still take great shots ). You get a APC-S sensor which is equivalent to most DSLR cameras.

I love the small size and weight of a mirrorless camera plus you can grow with it by buying other lenses. A Canon or Nikon entry level DSLR will have more native lens choices ( although almost any lens can fit on an NEX with an adaptor ) but be bigger, bulkier. The mirror will also provide slightly better auto focus - although mirrorless is closing that gap.

Might be worth looking into.

You are the second person who made a suggestion for that camera. Considering that you have used a Sony NEX-3. Do you still have any shots that you can post from that camera? Thanks in advance.

Just to make sure we are on the same page. Is this the correct camera that you are talking about

Sure. Now just to be clear, I have the original NEX-3. The NEX-3nl is the current version of the "3". Mine has a 14mp sensor vs. 16mp for the new one and a better processor. Anyway, here are some pictures I took with my "3"...

Thanks for posting those shots and yes I do appreciate those train shots. lol...However, I have two questions for you. Were those shots taken with the original lens that came with the camera? Also, What is the difference between 14mp sensor and the 16 mp sensor between the 2 cameras? BTW, Do you have a night shot like a night shot of the Magic Kingdom castle or something of that nature. Even a sunset shot? I am interested in how it does with night time shooting. Thanks

Here is my shot for the weekend with the Sony Cybershot. This was taken at Sea World in Orlando, Florida on October 20th, 2013

The sensor and the processor in the newer NEX-3 should give you slightly better results.

I believe all of these shots were with the 18-200mm zoom lens. The first two WDW shots have significant Post processing, the other have minimal or none. All were shot hand held and JPEG.

Here are some shots with the "kit lens" 18-55 plus some "night" shots. None of the shots so far have been from lenses "faster" than 3.5 aperture.

I don't want to hijack this thread so I'll post the photos in the thread you started about looking for a camera.

My cousin has a Sony NEX-3 and it takes great shots. Here's one he took while on the California Screamin' roller coaster:
