Pics of Proposed Contemporary Vacation Club....

We'll see if this ever comes about ..

It suits me cause there'll be more room at the BCV! :goodvibes

Looks like some sort of walkway from the DVC building to the CR. Perhaps at the same level as the monorail, or so it would seem. It also seems as though this building may be a bit taller than than CR.

Probably not the monorail level, but the fourth floor of the tower, where most of the shops and restaurants are located.

BTW, this firm designed the convention facilities at CR, and the Bonnett Creek Golf Club.

Way to ruin the sightlines jerks. It's a good thing they're getting rid of all the imagineers. Wouldn't want anyone with an ounce of vision and an artistic sense of the whole property to be involved with it.

What are you concerned about here? If this builidng is a nice as it looks, I don't see a problem.

The original contemporary was designed to be minimally obtrusive in tomorrowland. You can see it, but the sloped design makes it appear smaller then it is. It doesn't overpower Tomorrowland, it is a part of it.

This building presents a huge bulk in the skyline. It will be much more visually obtrusive.

You can't just worry about what it looks like in and of itself. WDW is more then the sum of it's parts.

I agree with YoHo, but it's not like they're worried about sightlines anymore. the Soarin' building ruined them in EPCOT.

you can drive on I-4 and see Pop Century and Wide World of Sports clearly from the interstate.

bad show.

I think the Swan & Dolphin burned them before Soarin' but your point is well taken.

With respect to the new Contemporary DVC building, all they've got to do is raise the berm.....uh....er.....a couple of hundred feet.

There! That was easy.....

Doubt you will even see it from Tomorrowland. There is a built in berm, its called Space Mountain.
The addition would be to the left of the contemporary in this picture.

Uh, that's not the only angle from which the contemporary can be seen and if I read the map correctly, there are other locations where it would be visible. In fact, it might be visible from certain parts of Frontierland.

Lets see, you complained that it would be obtrusive to TL, I gave you a photo showing that it will be blocked by SM so it might not be as bad as you think. That photo is from the TTA. From the ground its even more difficult to see. But now thats not good enough for you so now you say it might be visible from certain parts of the park, specifically FL. If thats the case then seeing Space Mountain and the Contemporary are already problems thus no need to worry about this addition.

I believe SOCAL has a point. But I would only add that you will see the entire Contemporary area on your left from the WDW Train as it makes its final turn from Tomorrow land to the Main Street Station. As far as seeing it from Fronteerland.........I can't remember seeing it, maybe from the top of Splash Mountain just before the big plunge, but I'd be enjoying the ride to not pay much attention to the outside view.

Maybe Disney should start building bunkers, that way, you wont have to see anything. :rotfl2:

From looking at the aerial photos and the plans, which show us that this building is slightly behind the main CR building, I can see this as a potential and very small issue with sightlines in TL. Does that make them jerks for wanting to build a great property on the monorail line for DVC members to enjoy? I think not.
