I just returned from a seven day Western Caribbean Cruise on the Crown Princess sailing from Fort Lauderdale and I wanted to share some photos with you.

Sailing out of Port Everglades

Princess has their own terminal in Port Everglades - nothing like DCL's though

DSC08738.jpg

Our mini suite - comparable to a regular verandah cabin on DCL, but with two TVs

Yours truly enjoying the balcony

The view as we departed from Florida

Princess' adult only Sanctuary - for a fee, of course

DSC08783.jpg

The Crown Princess anchored off Princess Cays - their private island - not as nice as Castaway Cay

You can still get your Bahamian tzochkes here

We were joined in Grand Cayman by four other ships

The mini golf course on deck 19

Deck 19 offered a pretty view

The aft pools and jacuzzis

More to come ...

A pretty sunset as we sailed west

DSC08889.jpg

Lots of people got off the ship in Roatan, Honduras - only to be drenched by the rain

We were later joined by the Carnival Valor

I must admit the shows were pretty good - including this 1920's themed show

DSC08935.jpg

The singers and dancers were very good

They had a midnight balloon drop in the Piazza atrium

The Crown Princess docked in Cozumel, Mexico

Princess originated the big movie screens on deck

Princess offers a "backstage" tour including the ship's funnels ... and much more including ...

... and the amazing bridge as well as other areas

We were docked next to the brand new Oasis of the Seas - currently the biggest cruise ship in the world

I hope you enjoyed!

Great pictures! Your suite was very nice and I'm sorry you were drenched in Roatan. I heard that's a very up and coming port to visit. I wouldn't mind stopping there someday! And that Oasis of the Seas... WOWSA!

Does anyone else think there are too few lifeboats on the Oasis of the Seas?

I noticed that maybe there really big or there is more on the other side than there is on that side?

We sailed on the Caribbean Princess back in 2007. DH didn't enjoy it nearly as much as he did sailing the Disney Wonder earlier this year. I have to say that one of my very favorite spots aboard the Caribbean Princess was the aft adults only pool. I  the view...I think I spent nearly the whole cruise there!

Wow, what a beautiful cruise! It looks so relaxing!! I bet it was amazing!

Thanks for sharing your pictures Mike. It looked like a great cruise. :goodvibes

There would be a total of 26 lifeboats... The Magic has 20... I imagine alot of raft lifeboats would be used as well...

I'll stay with Disney thank you very much... If I want to sail on a Mall... :sad2:

Thanks for posting the photos.
Gives me a sense of what the ship is like.

Feel free to stay with Disney, but its you that is missing out. I LOVE Disney, dont get me wrong, but they are the BEST at doing a "disney cruise", but they are NOT the BEST CRUISE company out there, if you go trying to compare every other company to a Disney Cruise, you will always come up short, they are never going to have that Magic feeling. BUT if you look at the actual cruise itself, the entertainment, food, ports of call, there are other GREAT brands out there. There is a reason Celebrity is consistently named one of the top cruiselines out there. Disney is WAY overpriced compared to what you can with other cruiselines, but that is just Disney in General. Yes the Oasis will have a LOT of people, but it also has FAR more activities than the 2 current disney ships. I cant wait until the Dream comes out, it looks like it will be great. Disney is a great Cruise line, but there are LOTS of other great ships also. With Disneys Parks, they are untouched IMO, no one even comes close, there is Disney and there is everyone else. But it is just not true with the cruises, Disney is Great, but they are not the only great company out there.

Thanks for sharing your photos, Mike. How did you like the ship? I'm looking forward to a cruise on the Crown Princess in June.

I enjoyed it very much. It was larger than the other ships I've been on, but still very manageable to get around. One thing I missed was a quiet place to sit and read though. The library wasn't set up that way and there were people all over the place.

Thx a mint for sharing your pics, Mike :thumbsup2 We're heading off on an Princess ship next month, albeit a much smaller one but it was fun to see FLL our debarkation port.

I'm looking fwd to the cruise but know I will miss the DCL's beverage and ice cream stations (for DH), and the included adult pool area.

Did you happen to notice if they had martini tasting on your cruise? ;)

cheers,
:flower3:

Princess did have complimentary ice cream every day near the pizzeria, and you could always get the soda card and get drinks at the bars.

I didn't see a martini tasting session, but I'm a teetotaler, so I didn't check!

Good to know about the ice cream for DH - thx a mint for that tip :thumbsup2

Yeah, I looked into the soda card for DH - I don't drink soda really - it'll cost $73 :scared1: He doesn't drink a lot either so will prolly just buy a soda when he wants one. :upsidedow

cheers,
:flower3:
