Does anyone know if any of the resorts can fix up a romantic picnic basket for two with a special place to have the picnic? My DH and I are going in September without the kids and I thought it would be great to do a picnic one day since we won't be spending too much time in the parks. Any info would be great! Thanks!

They sure used to be able to. You'll need to give "In room dining" a call a day or so in advance to let them know...and it ain't exactly inexpensive...but I'm pretty sure they'll do it for you. We did it in '99, on our honeymoon, and in '01. I haven't heard of them discontinuing the service, so.....

Edit: One thing: They delivered the basket to our room, at a predetermined time...and we found our own spot. I seem to remember there was a note with the basket asking us to return it or they would charge us an additional amount of money. Can't remember what the amount was (far more than the basket was worth, I remember thinking) though.

We rented a canopy boat at Wilderness lodge and had a lovely picnic out on the lagoon!

Thanks for the answers. What kind of cost are we talking here? Any more info would be great. Thanks.

Boy, oh boy. I'm not exactly sure (it was 7 and 5 years ago, respectively). I would guesstimate it was AROUND $75, which included a bottle of wine, but it could have been a bit more than that. Granted, it would probably largely depend on what you "ordered" when you talked to your resorts In Room dining. They gave us a bunch of options to choose from, as I remember.

My suggestion would be to pack your own basket. If you are renting a car there's a few food stores less than a five minute drive. If not just get a couple of counter service meals. There's so many great spots at all of the resorts to have a picnic. My fiancee and I don't have children so the times we've been to disney we've found a number of romantic places for things such as picnics and you won't have trouble finding them either. One of our personal favorites however is to go to the Rose and Crown where often they have plastic champagne flutes getting two fluts and going to sit by the remote UK gardens.

We will be staying at Old Key West. Does anyone have any romantic picnic suggestions for there? I have never been there before. Thanks. :lovestruc

Isn't there a goumet food shop/deli in Downtown Disney? I seem to recall seeing one on our last trip. We went to DD to see the Lego store, so it wouldn't have been far from there. I seem to remember thinking that I could buy the makings for an excellent picnic lunch there, but we didn't really have any picnic spots in mind.

MIchiganMommy, that sounds like a good idea! Anyone have specifics on this store? Old Key West is close to Downtown Disney so that might work. Thanks for the suggestion!

I also suggest packing your own basket and having a romantic picnic on the beach at the grand floridian or poly
