New to this board, and this is a great forum. Anyhoo, I have to be the pickiest eater alive, and I am needing to lose about 15 lbs. I'm 24, 5 foot 2, approx 123 lbs. I weighed 95 up until 2 yrs ago when I got sick passed out, and lived on carbs for 6 months to keep from getting sick. I gained about 25 lbs and had to buy a whole new wardrobe cause my clothes no longer fit. Now I'm getting married and want to get back in to good shape. I work out daily (have been for 3 yrs), cardio for 30 min. and lift for about 15. My main problem is my diet. I can't eat fruit and veggies, never have been able to. I have had my mom try to sneak in foods into stuff that gets cooked but I still can taste it or whatever and I get sick and throw up. They took me to a dr. when I was little and basically said that some people are that way and not much can be done. My diet is, no breakfast (I know thats not good, but I'm not hungry in the a.m.) Grilled chicken or Tyson Popcorn chicken for lunch with a Diet Coke or bottle of water and usually a small dinner like steak with a baked potato, spaghetti or a sandwich. My fiancee wants to go out to eat about 3 times a week and it is just killing my weight loss efforts. Any suggestions on losing about 15 lbs and finding something good to eat?

Wow, your choices are pretty limited! You sound like you eat a lot of chicken - there are lots of ways to fix it. Maybe you could experiment with different spices and marinades?

You can get low-carb spaghetti and sauce now - at least that would help with the overabundance of carbs in your diet.

You can have your sandwiches on low-carb bread or a low-carb tortilla (I love "rolling" everything up!).

Lots of people use whey protein powder (like Designer Protein - you can get it at GNC or a vitamin store) and make flavored shakes. I like to use a scoop of protein powder, a cup of water, frozen strawberries and ice, but you could use a low-carb chocolate syrup or other flavorings that you like. I find these a lot easier for breakfast, when I'm not hungry but I know I should have something. :D

I hope these ideas help!

Best wishes for success!!

Hi and WELCOME TO THE WISH BOARD!:D

Wow you can't eat fruits or veggies? Is this psychological or some kind of physical disorder? I would suggest as did DoeWDW did to try and use some low carb products and I hope your Dr. is monitoring you for deficiencies and you are taking proper supplemnets.

Not that I am big on these but shakes like Atkins carnation instant breakfast have lots of vitamins as do some cereals - check the labels. Sweet potatoes are one of natures best nutrient dense foods also soy products like cliff bars.

Try to vary the foods you eat - beef one day then fish then chicken - use different types of potatoes(red, new sweet, etc) drink at least 8 -8oz glassess of water each day - you already exercise - try to shake up the routine a little by doing different routines every so often.

Bottom line though if the bulk of your diet is carbs you would need to decrease the amount you take in to lose wgt.

I WISH you success - keep us updated and check in for support as needed!

Good luck with this. Perhaps low carb isn't the way for you to go, perhaps a plan like weight watchers would be better for you?
