Picky Eaters

I've seen some posts on picky children, but I had some questions about ADULT picky eaters! BF and I will be on the dining plan this fall, and I can't wait! But BF is world's pickiest eater. He eats nothing green, no salad, not even lettuce on a sandwich! He isn't into bold new tastes, so while he'd eat buffalo wings because he's had them before, he'd never try curried chicken or something similar.

It seems a lot of burger CS places seem to offer condiment bars, so am I correct to assume that most burgers are served plain? What about chicken sandwiches? Is mayo commmonly served on each sandwich? I'd rather know in advance to avoid any problems later.

What about substitutions? Typically BF will order extra mashed potatoes instead of a house veggie, or ask about rice, etc. Is asking to substitute something okay? I've checked out menus and know pretty much where we would eat to best please us both, but I know better than to assume that menus online are exactly what we'll be seeing, etc.

Come on DISers! I know I can't be the only one out there with a meat and potatoes man!! :rotfl2:

What have your experiences been? Thanks for any advice, tips, etc. :)

What does he do when you go out to eat at home? He'd just do the same thing there - just like any other restaurant, you ask the waiter if you can substitute something or cut something. Don't stress about it =)

And yes, most counter places offer condiment bars but if not, just ask them for no lettuce just like you would at Burger King or something.

No worries! Enjoy your trip!

DH and I are both picky eaters--I'm vegetarian, and DH is low-carbing. All the restaurants and table-service places at which we have eaten have been very accomodating as far as making substitutions. Eating is one of our favorite WDW pleasures! Your BF will have no problems!

:) I am a picky eater. Heck buffalo chicken wings is too far out there for me. I have always found something yummy to eat at Disney and found the staff even at counter service restaurants to be extremely accommodating.

I have went as far as asking for a sandwich to be put on a different type of bread with no onion or tomato and mustard instead of mayo. They just smile and say no problem.

Don't be embarrassed and don't be afraid to ask. Disney dining seems to be some of the most accomodating dining establishments anywhere. :)

Thanks for all the quick responses!

I didn't think it would be an issue, but wanted to check before I found out otherwise!! :)

I can't imagine trying to please someone who is a picky eater. I would just go and enjoy -- he won't starve. Make sure you blame his mother. Picky eaters are made not born.
