Picky eater question: Best kid's burger?

DS6 is a super picky eater, but he does like hamburgers, yay! When we went in Jan 2013 we ate at Taste Pilot's in DCA and we were less than impressed. I have read reviews on some of the other CS places that offer kids burgers but they were also not that favorable, super small, dried-out overcooked burger, etc.

Has anyone had a decent kid's burger in the parks? Or even in DTD or at the hotels? Unfortunately, he will not eat pizza, chicken nuggets, or burritos. If all else fails we will pack in some mini bagels and peanut butter. He does like pasta too, so that's always an option!

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with kid's meals, but I like the burgers at Hungry Bear in DL. I've never had a dry, overcooked one there but they were the regular size, not kid's meals.

As far as pasta goes, there's Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta in DCA, Wine Country Trattoria in DCA and Pizza Port in DL that have pretty good pasta options. Maybe you could split something from one of those instead of getting a kid's meal.

For pasta, we split meals with DS6 and DS5 at Redd Rockets in Tomorrowland. Does he like turkey sandwiches? Jolly holiday and Pacific Wharf Cafe both had turkey sandwiches my equally as picky DS5 ate. The bread is in a shape of a fish. I don't think either kid had a burger last trip. Hope that helps!

Will he share a burger with you? I used to order an adult burger (e.g. at Taste Pilot's Grill because of the condiments table) plain or with everything on the side. Then our oldest (picky, picky, picky -- still is today!) got to choose his toppings. I cut the burger in half and he dressed up his portion. We saved money, headaches, and no one went hungry. Maybe this would work with your son?

The adult burgers are usually too big, as in 1/3 lb burgers with huge buns, even split they are not very easy for a kid to eat. At least my kid anyways. Unfortunately, he won't eat a turkey sandwich either. Love my boy!

The pasta options look like our best shot. He does like meatballs so I see that Redd Rocket's and Boardwalk Pizza both have kids meals with meatballs so we'll probably do that!

Maybe on our last day we'll treat him to McDonald's on Harbor. We're staying at DLH though so I was hoping not to leave the Disney bubble!

Thanks for all the tips!

My own DS6 loves burgers too. I've found that the kid's burgers in the parks are all pretty much the same (think hockey puck).

DS likes the spaghetti and meatballs at Pizza Port. There is pasta (but without the meatballs) at Plaza Inn and Riverbelle Terrace. You mentioned your son likes peanut butter, right? They have a fun "make-your-own" PB&J at Carnation Cafe. If he will eat grilled cheese, they have that at White Water Snacks in the GCH.

Glad to know the pasta is good. We'll definitely try that! Thanks!

ESPN Zone and Rainforest Cafe both have traditional cheeseburgers. My kids really like the sliders at the Hearthstone Lounge at the Grand Calfiornian Hotel. They get cheddar cheese instead of the bleu. They're small and you can get them plain too. The burgers at Tomorrowland Terrace, Viiage Haus, and Hungry Bear are hit or miss. I am looking forward to trying the fried green tomato sandwich at Hungry Bear. We haven't found an outstanding burger inside the parks but there are so many other excellent choices that totally make up for it. :thumbsup2

Oh, you MUST try the fried green tomato sandwich, it's so yummy! We may still go there for lunch for one of our days because it's so good and I'd like to try the bumble bee cupcake :) I think our strategy will be packing PB&J for DS during the day, then finding something more substantial for dinners. Thanks for the tip about Hearthstone. I didn't even realize they had food there!

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. We leave in 5 days....Woooo Hoooo! :cool1:
