We are lucky enough to have gotten free dining for our trip in Oct 2012 and have not used the dining plan in our last 2 trips. What I am most concerned about is if my picky 13yr DD can order off the kids menu? Since we have paid the adult price for her and it is more- I would hope that she can order from either the adult or kids. Most of the menus I have looked at she would want to order from the kids menu...

anyone else have this issue before? Thanks! :confused3

:( Sorry to hear that, if there is anywhere you may be able to cajole her into eating better, I would hope the mouse would be able to help you and her.

On the unfortunate side that she stays in the nuggets and mac'ncheese life, most places will bring out a double portion of any kids meal if you expend an adult credit for it.

I'd keep that under your hat and encourage her to broaden her horizons. The adult versions of pizzas, shrimp ect. ect. so she should be able to find something acceptable.

You aren't alone though. I'm blessed with my DD's, at virtually every TS we ate at over our 6 day trip to WDW (on deluxe plan) my girls (4.5 and 6.5 at the time) usually ordered the mature kids meal as opposed to the nuggets or similar kiddie stuff.

Do your best to get her palate to mature, she'll thank you in the long run!

At most if not all a la carte restaurants, she can order from the children's menu.

If you wish, you can pay cash for her meal, and save the adult dining credit for another meal. Any adult in your room can use the adult dining credit.

We had the same situation with our 12 year old son on our Feb 2012 trip with the Quick Service Dining Plan. We found that most counter service places would allow him to purchase a Kids Meal with his adult credit so he could get the Smuckers Uncrustable or Chicken Nuggets but unfortunately that meant he also had to take the kid size drinks, sides and desserts. For example in Starring Rolls at Hollywood Studios, the adult meal included a deli sandwich, side of chips, large drink and dessert or fruit from the pastry case but since he wanted the pb and j sandwich, he got only a small milk, a very small package of grapes and a little cookie for his adult meal credit. We questioned this in a number of places but no one was willing to bend at all. :sad2:

Interesting idea! I hadn't considered this. My 10-year-old "adult" eats next to nothing, so this will be something for us to consider! Would we just tell the server, "Two dinining plans, and we'll pay for the Mickey pizza oop"?

exactly. I also agree with pp with saving the credits. Have you tried one of the shows? They always use two TS credits. The kids meals are cheaper anyway. On one trip my husband decided to just pay for our breakfast at Kona because he wanted to try someplace different for dinner and use our TS credit for that. There are plenty of options available for you.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I do hope to get her to try different things but paying oop for just a few meals might be the way we go...
