Someone mentioned to me that if you say a certain saying to a pickle vendor, you will get one free. Anyone know anything about this. My husband is pickle crazy!
So, you grabbed my attention as I also like pickles. Here is what I found:
Free Pickles
This is an interesting false tip I have seen spread rapidly on Twitter recently. The story is that if you go to any pickle stand in Disneyland, and ask the Cast Member their how their day is going, that they will give you a free pickle. Unfortunately this tip is not true. The interesting thing about this “tip” is that it has never been true. It is just something that someone made up and it has been spreading around like wildfire ever since. Even though this tip is not true, you should still ask any Cast Member about their day. Your free gift will be showing those hard working Cast Members that you care.

This is true, but it's not an item for free. There are what are called "Magical Moments" handed out by a dozen or so CMs at Epcot just about every night. If you strike up a friendly conversation or get randomly selected by one of the CMs, and only these CMs, there's a good chance they will offer you and your group VIP Illuminations viewing at very exclusive location.

Except the story the PP posted is about a CM at DL
Though I get your point, there are tons of ways CM can give out pixie dust or magic moments when they see fit and a good way to be on their radar for that is to be friendly to them. Though isn't this at all parks, not just Epcot for Illuminations?
Not this particular "Magical Moment". These CMs are able to do this only at Epcot. The viewing location is given to a certain department and is under their control.
