The day DD and I arrive on Amtrak we want to go pick up our US/IOA tickets at the kiosk so we don't have to do it 4th of July morning when we check in. Where would be the best place to park? If we just pick up tickets can we park at HRH where we will ultimately be staying, or do we need to park in the big garage? Any other choices?

TIA

If you are staying at HRH and checking in there, then you can park there. If not, you'll have to use the parking garages at Universal which will cost you $9.

If I understand this correctly, you are checking in to HRH on the morning of 7/4, but want to pick up your tickets on 7/3? This being the case, you will not be able to park at HRH on 7/3. What you can do, however, is go to the big parking garage for the parks and City Walk in the evening on 7/3 because the parking is free after 6PM. You will probably still need to get there before the parks close for the evening in order to use the kiosks.

BTW I have stayed at a hotel across from Universal in the past for a night prior to checking in at HRH. I left DH and DS sleeping while I went over to HRH and checked in at 7:30 AM. I was able to get our magical room keys, even though our room was not ready until later in the day. By the time DH adn DS were ready for the day, we were able to park at HRH and walk directly over to the parks.

Wow you nearly sound like a family member of mine, traveling down to Universal Orlando for our trip (although in Oct) via Amtrak. We're also staying at HRH and all. Have a good time!

I want to pick up the tickets on 6/28 when we arrive via Amtrak. We are going to Lakeland for a wedding and not returning to Orlando until the morning of 7/4 when we check in to HRH. I don't want to wait to go to the Kiosks until 7/4 as I know the place will be PACKED!!

I figured we'd have to pay for the big parking garage, but worth it to avoid the hassle early on the fourth.

thanks

If you come in the evening then you won't have to pay for parking I believe.

With Amtrak and Hertz, there's no guarantee when we'll get anywhere. Train is scheduled to arrive about 12:30. Best scenario it's on time, getting a car is quick, we can hustle to city walk, have lunch, get the tickets and get parking validated. Not likely. I'd bet we'll be paying the $9 for parking and walking a zillion miles, but still better, I think, than trying to get checked in at HRH and then having to wait to get our tickets at the kiosk on 7/4 morning.

There is, of course, always the possibility that Amtrak will be late and after 6 may happen.
