Picking up tickets early..

To speak from experience...in 2009 we took advantage of the exact same free dining incentive as we just today booked for this year for the same exact time frame. We arrived on the day after Thanksgiving, had a room-only reservation for Fri and Sat (not free dining dates) and then had a package with tickets and free dining beginning on Sunday. We are doing the EXACT same thing this year. In 2009, when we checked in on Friday, we were given not only our park tickets and room key on the same card but also free dining for every night beginning that moment instead of having to wait until Sunday. It was supposed to be difficult, and I thought we would have to return to check in again on Sunday - and NONE of that happened. I am optimistic that this will happen again, but won't hold my breath. Be prepared for the worst case scenario, but don't fret about it. I worried for the worst and the CM thought I was crazy expecting to be inconvenienced by coming extra days and therefore spending more money on property!:thumbsup2 Be sure your reservations are linked together via a note in their system.
I think you were very, very lucky to get the free dining. I would not count on that again. I would, and am, counting on getting the tickets early.

I still worry that even if you still CAN pick up tickets early, what if policies change and come Thanksgiving Day I go to get my tickets and then find out I can't and then need to buy a new set of tickets then along with the ones on my package - either that or we go 3 days without tickets, and that's not happening......
well, I switched to the AP rate instead.
actually saves me $40 more than FD did. FD was giving me two extra 2-days that I'd hold on to for a while for future AP upgrades to apply to.... but really, by the time I would need them, there surely would be another deal offerered where I'd get sucked into buying tickets to make it a package to get the deal, and then have even more extra tickets.
Just don't want to worry about the chance of there being any issue picking up tickets early... when for pretty much same price can book with the AP rate.

Stitch...I would worry about the same thing! And there's no way we're going without tickets for 3 days either. I'd have done the same thing you did.
I never used to worry about things like that. But I suffered a mild traumatic brain injury a couple years ago in a car accident and stuff like this just stresses me out now. C'est la vie I guess.

I know, I've read many of them. I just don't see "Hi, yeah CheshireFigment said I could" as being an argument that's going to hold water when I get the one CM that is convinced that I can't get my tickets early that's all. And knowing my luck, I will get the one CM that's convinced I can't. And it's not that I don't believe him or any of you, but if I could just manage to have something in writing from Disney that says I could, I would go ahead and do it.

Have you looked at the relevant post in the ticket sticky? CF gives the procedure for the CM to find the info that they should do it.

Now according to some other CM who posts here and says she works in a ticketing-related department, it changed yesterday...who knows? If so I'm sure CF will let us know!

Yeah, I was all set, then saw this in the free dining thread:
The policy is no, due to previous fraud issues. It will no longer be allowed. We were sent several emails today reminding us of this.

So hopefully this is just a difference in CM training between Resorts and GR?

NM - I see most replies that followed confirmed, including the confirmation call to GR, that our tickets can be issued. Thanks!

I'm a long time Guest Relations Cast Member. We are still doing Early Ticket Pickup. Nothing has changed. :goodvibes

Check your advisories. Guest Services also sent communications to Theme Park Guest Relations yesterday. Approval codes will not be issued for early pick up of tickets.

'Atleast if they'd sent an email reply JustCallMeMommy could post the email reply and maybe we could print it out and hope that helps if they're being difficult.'

Sorry don't know how to copy quotes!

Just to add to my previous post that as well as having it confirmed on the phone we did also get an e-mail reply saying that we could certainly pick our tickets up early. We are not going until next year but they still said it was fine.

I'm thinkin' that in the next day (or week) we're gonna find out just who comes out
the winner in this bizarre CM Showdown.

Yes I've read the sticky and when the Guest Relations CM at the park told me it couldn't be done I read him the sticky and he was adamant I had been "misinformed". I emailed Disney will be interested to see their response.

I have met Hook's Girl. She is a Guest Relations Trainer at one of the Theme Parks. She is even more knowledgeable about weird ticketing procedures than I am.

Thanks Cheshire and Hook's Girl. I am changing my reservation tomorrow to put my tickets all on my package reservation, which saves me over $150.

What time does GS open outside the parks? I would have to pick up my tickets at MK before I can go in, since that would be 3 days before my package starts.

I really appreciate having you guys post here. It's a great service for everyone. I really hope the CM's and the guests continue to post back here until some time has passed and we know for certain why the discrepancy.

I have to say I did find it odd that my Cm on the phone yesterday applying FD to my reservation felt the need to tell me unprompted that I can't pick up my tickets early. (I had just split my reservation to have one night room only prior to my package). I just wrote it off to her being uninformed, but still though it odd that she'd say that when I didn't even ask.

It would certainly be a huge help to know for sure if it's worth my time heading to the MK the day we arrive. If things changed I'd do something else, but would certainly hate to get my hopes up.

I hope we can still pick up tickets early, I have a room only reservation for one night before our 8 day package starts in October and I'm counting on being able to get our tickets early! :) If not, I don't know what we will do that day, I added that extra day for more park time!!!

thank you CF! :thumbsup2

It would be great if someone on here comes back and reports that they indeed picked up their tickets early! :) Thank you all again!

Well I plan to pick my tickets up 3 days early, I leave next week. My ressie was booked when we were there last August 2010 so I will ask if that makes a difference. Planning to pickup at DTD.:surfweb: I aways have a plan B.:cool2:
