Picking time for Wild Africa Trek

We're trying to decide what time of day to go on the Wild Africa Trek.

Assumptions:
  1. We prefer to take advantage of the $50 discount for afternoon treks.
  2. There will be a RoL Dining Package for which we'll want to eat at TH or Tiffin's (not the BBQ, which has no veggie options).
  3. We can skip daytime Kilimanjaro Safari, but would like to squeeze in an evening safari.
  4. Everest and Dinosaur are our only other must-do rides.
  5. We'll have hoppers, so if pressed we can skip Fantasmic and spend a second evening at the AK.
  6. With an afternoon on WAT and evenings doing other stuff, a late morning is called for.
The tricky part is timing the meal on the WAT versus the RoL dining package. If we go for a 12:30 WAT, will we be hungry enough for a big dinner at 5 or 5:30? (What's the likely cutoff for RoL dining packages?). Or should we do an 11 or 11:30 lunch and a 2:30 WAT? This will be Sept., so a high chance of rain on a 2:30 Trek.

Suggestions? Am I missing anything?

Thanks

I am in a similar situation, and I think we may have to compromise somehow. Like doing the Trek on a different day than the night activities. And/or skipping the ROL meal package, and doing the FTBBQ one, OR just getting a FP+ to ROL.

I dont think we can do the Trek, eat a ROL meal package, AND see all the night activities in one day. It is often brutally hot at AK in May (when we are going)/

DH has informed me that I misunderstood, and that he didn't rule out paying the extra $50/each for a morning trek. That makes the decision process easier, and leaves open the chance for a trip back to the hotel mid-afternoon.

But I'm still interested in overall advice on timing the Wild Africa Trek vis a vis timing meals.

Not sure if this will help you out...but I booked an 8:45 am WAT and 2:45 pm lunch at Sanaa and, unfortunately, we were not very hungry. My family couldn't understand why we were eating again, but it was too late to cancel. It would've been much better to put that $100 lunch toward a nicer 5-6 pm dinner.

Also, we prefer the morning treks. For us, the greater chance of seeing animal activity is worth paying the extra $50 for...
